QoH, ha we got him - question overload.
Looking at a mb here http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/products/7zx.htm
Do you know what DualBios means?

No, but you will tell us won't you? I go to check the link. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
In answer to your questions:
Yes, No, Yep, Maybe, Perhaps and I Dunno. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
DualBIOS--a "spare" BIOS within a BIOS that double checks--new technology: here
Basically, the way I read it, if the primary BIOS fails completely or gets a glitch, the secondary will allow you to boot up to the OS anyway (fix now or fix later option). Frankly, I see it as an interesting, but perhaps unecessary feature; rarely have I seen BIOS failures that bad. What I'm wondering is: do they both run off the same battery when the power is off.

Don't remember any problems with Bios that was not operator caused. Seem awful stable to me.

"I dunno"...hummmm Must be the answer to my question.
I found it Here How often would one need it? To me, it would be good to have.

Just checked out your link there, greengoose. Can see his enthusiasm for it; I'm still not completely sold on the idea. Had a bad BIOS flash not too long ago. Just reflashed with an original (last Feb. update)and it was fine. I see it as a possible time-saver in that case (save about 10 minutes)--will be interesting to see if other manufacturers pick up on the idea--see if it might possibly become a "standard" feature on future boards.
To answer your question: Not very often at all.

Looks like we doubled up there.
I just found a review on the board I was looking at, about no onboard usb. Could get pci, I guess.

What I was thinking about on this thing was putting in a swap tray $25 and 20GB harddrive $100. And having it pull the load. Oh,yes a 7200RPM one at that.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, think I'll call it a night. Watch the video "Gladiator" this morning...great flick. I'm thinking of changing my name to "Maximus Geekus Doofus" http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/cwm2/rcain.gif .....waddya' think?
Nite all.
Special one for you, Train: http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/drowned/tank.gif
Checked a link on 98 that was talking about power and protectors. Made me think, what should we have on a computer for optimum protection?
Have a good one bistro. Noel
EDIT:
.....for you bistro, I think I'd prefer GLUTEUS MAXIMUS DUFUS https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

The one I draw the TC was saying we have lift off as flames came out of the ring area.
For some reason the tankers did not like it.
By the way it is scary when the 28 ton turrent disappears on its way up https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ where will it land https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Morning All, working on component list. Will check back later. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Will change over later. Be well.
Morning,
Working on a list this AM too, greengoose, but this one is from the kids.....to Santa. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Buying for the kids more expensive than building computer.
The only thing that keeps me from getting bogged down on the component list is to keep it simple, reliable, powerful, behind the curve(money), and the Kiss Principle.
KISS Principle when it comes to computers: Kindly Invest all your Securities and Stocks. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
More than 1 Kiss Principle it would seem. Any others? Be Back.

Spent more time in line than I did shopping. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
I'm not going back out there!
Why we have ours done by the weekend before Thanksgiving. CROWDS Plus the weather is generally better.
My idea being I hate crowds that press.
Berlin Germany was not as bad as a mall.
Besides I did my window shopping from a nice comfy warm dry position https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Hmmmmm.....seems to be some grumbling over Compaq proprietary parts! What most people on this forum ( and others like it) fail to realize, (or remember) is that OEM Computer manufacturers build their computers for the other 99.8% of the population. They build computers for people who either have no interest or inclination towards upgrading or rebuilding their current system. Most people use thier computers for three years and buy new. Financially, its still in the OEM's best interest to offer products that allow only minimal upgrades which require OEM tech support.
On another point. Would you believe I just fixed a Presario that only had a 70 Watt power supply!
70 watts??? Hokey schmoke. Why, why, why? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
sdtech: full agreement. But I've seen too many folks here, at the 98 Forum and others who get upgrade fever, but are stymied with the propietary parts. Others went out and bought parts without checking to see if the Compaq system would "accept" them, then wonder why "it's not working right"---sometimes related to the weak power supply. It's frustrating to say the least.
Very true and wanting to put second harddrive into this one, is the reason I am Investigating before I buy. Now, would any ps do or does it take a special?
I figure if it run good with 80 then a 200 ot thereabouts maybe more than adequate.
------------------
SMILE
Haven't worked on them. sdtech? From what I've seen in searches, they appear to indicate that it takes a Compaq-specific power supply. At least the older models do--not sure about the latest.
[This message has been edited by bistro (edited 12-16-2000).]
sdtech, I agree with you on what most people do and it's not just with computers. We live more and more in a spectator age that wants to use something alrready made. We here on the other hand, or some of us want to know why and how. Why - knowledge.
