Error is the same, KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR caused by partmgr.sys (does that mean partition manager?)
Checking EventViewer, I find strange that there is never anything that matches the date of the blue screen. Could the clock be off between the two? I can hardly imagine how it could be but even this morning, the EventViewer shows the errors 3 minutes later than what the BlueScreenView shows.
At 9:54 it says "The previous system shutdown at 9:48:27 AM on 9/30/2019 was unexpected. (but there was nothing between 9:24 and 9:53)
In the Application, no entry between 8:16 and 9:54. After that I see regular programs mentioned (probably as they are restarted in the background):

When did the BSODs start? Did you check for any events or updates around that time?
And you ran a virus scan and Malwarebytes? CryptoPreventMonSvc sounds a little sketchy.
I am not exactly sure since they would typically happen overnight, just like regular Windows updates, so I didn't think much of it. It is only when it did it during the daytime that I suspected that THAT one was definitely not a Windows update. So then, I started to wonder if the previous ones were or weren't the same thing. When I noticed it happening, I went in my Add/Remove program to see what program might have been added recently. Mid-August, I wrote a blog post about sorting one's fonts and I was looking for a font viewer they could use. I had searched, downloaded and installed a few of them. Since the post was written, I didn't need any of them, so I deleted them.Quote:

When I look at my computer folders, on the C: drive, there is one called CryptoPreventQuarantine. It is empty. That is the SSD I added in June. If I look at my laptop, it also has that folder (also empty), and it works fine. With that name, I figured it was where suspicious files caught by anti-virus would be moved. I was considering getting a "new" computer, thinking that maybe it was the motherboard, with the idea of just transferring my current drive into the new one, but *IF* the issue has to do with anything other than the motherboard, I would not improve anything.
The variety of errors you are seeing usually indicates a memory issue. However, if your memory test ran OK, it could be the memory controller (motherboard) or possibly a video adapter issue. Does your current system have onboard graphics or a separate video card (in a slot)? How old is your current system?
One other way to help determine whether you have a software or a hardware problem would be to try running the current hardware but booting from a live Linux CD/DVD or USB drive. If the computer ran from that for several days, then the hardware is probably OK. Does your computer have a CD/DVD drive?

The system was refurbished (which means the motherboard). The SSD was new and installed in June. The other internal drives (E and F) were the C and E before. I don't have the exact info but definitely a few years old (maybe 4?)Quote:

OK, it sounds like the system has a graphics card, and is not too old. I think the next step might be to try a live Linux disc or USB drive to determine if you have similar issues with that. The computer is not staying up for 24 hours at present, using the current Windows OS.

If you use other application software under Windows, that would not run, but a 24-36 hour test should not be too much of an inconvenience. I would leave it it running 24/7 for the test period. If it crashes or reboots, that would tend to indicate a hardware problem and it might be new computer time. If it runs fine, it might be time to try a reinstall of Windows 7 or an "upgrade" to Windows 10 Pro to see if that eliminates the BSOD problems. you would want to make an image backup of the C: drive before trying that.
At this point it is a little problematic to upgrade to W10 as I need to use some programs that might or might not work on W10. I know people who have no issues, while others can't use them I am really worried about "taking a chance". That is why, when I contacted the tech to "upgrade" my computer, it had to either be only W7 or a dual boot with W7 OR, he was suggesting finding a way to emulate W7 for me to run those programs especially *IF* W10 ended up causing issues with it (W10 update have been known to cause issues for other users).Quote:

I'll try booting from that UBCD flash drive I created. I'll set it overnight, and tomorrow, most of the day. I'll try to manage work on the laptop instead (inconvenient but might be worth testing!).
Now, I am no longer sure how to boot the actual computer using the UBCD. It just sends me to the BIOS thingy. Am I using it wrong?
As I rebooted the computer, I got a notification for an update for my AMD Radeon. I thought it showed no new update when i checked earlier. But heck! Might as well update it now!
And in the meantime, I'll leave it on overnight. I didn't manage to boot from the USB. It does not seem to do what I thought it would do.
Can you explain or direct me to how to boot from a USB drive? I might have a chance to do that tonight.

You can boot from the Ultimate Boot CD, but only the software on that CD can be run. A live Linux disc or drive would at least give you internet access, and would be more of a test since it would load drivers for all of your hardware that it could detect.
Outlook, PaintShopPro, Notepad++ would not work under Linux, although Chrome is available. If 24-36 hours for a test tends to cause computer withdrawal symptoms, a backup computer might be something to consider in case your primary PC has issues like this.

It is not as much widthdrawal as a "tool for my night work". And yes, the laptop would be the backup option, and what I will need to use.
I had not paid much attention to the link for Linux as (1) I never used Linux and thought it was over myhead (maybe it still is, but I'll see) and (2) I had that UBCD5 done and thought it was booting normally with that, even with limited features.
You could boot from the UBCD and leave it running for 24-36 hours, but chances are it will not crash running that. However, the UBCD likely just loads a simple default video driver, so it won't be much of a test.
An alternative is a spare hard drive that you use to install a clean copy of Windows (7 or 10). You woul disconnect your current C: drive (and all other hard drives) and connect the spare drive, then install your choice of Windows versions, download the updates, and see what happens. If the BSODs continue, a hardware issue is likely.

Additional question. One of my internal drive USED to be my C: drive, so it would still boot if I set the BIOS to boot from it. Would that help pinpoint anything? I am asking since it would be faster than ordering a drive, waiting for it, and then performing surgery on my computer when I don't know what I am doing (I can follow you blindly, but that's about it!)
If the drive that used to be your C: drive was set up with Windows using the motherboard you currently have, and it has not been reformatted, it should still boot. However, I assume that it now has a different drive letter if you can access it. If I were going to try booting from it as a test, I would disconnect ALL other hard drives and connect that drive to cable that is now connected to your current C: drive to avoid any unwanted issues.

Yes, it is now my E drive. I am not 100% sure it was the same motherboard. When I had one new hard drive installed that C became E and a new C was added. Then, in June, that C was "replaced" by an SSD and became F. So the E was left as itself.
What would happen if it was a different motherboard when that ORIGINAL drive was set up?

If the original C: drive was set up for Windows when it was connected to a different motherboard, it would have incorrect drivers for the new motherboard and it likely wouldn't boot and you would get errors. Not good.
Note: The bootable flash drive I suggested would NOT boot into Windows 7. It would boot into a Linux OS, which would work for testing. To test with Windows, you would need a spare hard drive and some Windows installation media files.
I was in the process of creating that Linux Boot Flash drive and it was doing it. I left the computer for 10 minutes or so, and the computer restarted (yeah, another BSOD). How do I know if the process was completed?
You can try booting from the flash drive. If it works, the process likely completed. Or, you can retry the process to create the bootable flash drive.

Not long to wait. About 30 minutes after, the computer "rebooted". No blue screen. The screen just went black, even though I can see that the computer is still powered (the light is still on). It didn't restart like in the case of those previous BSOD. Is that the normal way a crash happens with Linux?
Linux does not get BSODs like Windows does. Are you sure that it wasn't just the monitor going into power save mode? I assume that you tried moving the mouse and/or typing on the keyboard?

While it is running, you might try at least some internet surfing to give it some additional work to do. This would also help to eliminate hardware issues as a possible cause of your Windows BSODs. Firefox should be available on your Linux Mint setup.

Almost 48 hours left with Linux and no crash at all. Will now boot back with Windows.

I do plan on bringing the computer for an upgrade, on Monday. Likely will be Windows 10, and more RAM too (in a different tower).
48 hours with no crash would tend to indicate that your hardware is OK, and that the crashes are due to software. It could be a driver or driver update, or a Microsoft "update" that is causing the issue.
If you "upgrade" to Windows 10, that may fix the issue, or it may not. If you do go to Windows 10, I highly recommend going with Windows 10 Pro. Yes, it will cost more, especially if you are now on Windows 7 Home, but it will allow you to have some small control over the Windows Update process.

I noticed that restarting my computer in Windows gave me some oddities:
- the clock was changed to a different time zone (UK)
- some displays (like the language) was in a different place.
- when I initially started Outlook, I got an error saying that the pst file was currently in use (I had not started anything at that time); another reboot solved that though
Could this have been affected/caused by having used Linux for a while (I had noticed the clock oddity while Linux was active but thought it was just on its own)?
Since it might or might not solve the issue when upgrading to Windows 10, anything else I should check or test so I might fix it before the upgrade? Could it still be something malware related even if Malwarebyte gave it a clear bill of health?
The Linux system should not have altered the clock settings, but it might have. I assume that you have set it back to the correct time now. If you power the system off overnight, and it boots back up with an incorrect time and date, especially if the year is several years ago, the BIOS battery may have failed. If it has, that can cause other issues also of you need non-default memory or other settings. Those in turn can cause BSOD issues.
If you have Windows 7 Pro now, then if you "upgrade", you should get Windows 10 Pro. The first link in post #116 shows how you can still get that for free if you choose to. I would still make an image backup of your Windows 7 C: drive before doing that, just in case. There are free tools for doing this at the links below:

The power off and reboot is the easy way to check the battery. The hard way is with a battery tester or multi-meter. It is cheaper to just replace it.Quote:

There is no guarantee that a Windows 10 "upgrade" will change anything, but there is a good chance. That is why I suggested an image backup, or a clean Windows 10 install to a new hard drive.
