teknoman2001, what a great idea! Make your own OS -- charge no more than half what Micro$oft does and still make a bundle.
Can I have first dibs, please???
Cheers

Well, my favorites right now are Battlefield 1942, Halo anf Diablo 2 :)
I do have a problem though, and maybe you guys can help me, somtimes when i'm playing the controls will 'lock up' and will not respond, the game still runs, but even after dying the keyboard and mouse won't respond, this only happens with 3-D games, but it's rather annoying, as you can't even exit the game.
any help would be appreciated.
Two superb (but old) puzzle type games: Pandora's Box and Grim Fandango - best games I ever played.
Currently playing (or just finished) Rise of Nations, Age of Mythology/Titans, LotR - RotK, Zoo Tycoon/Marine Mania but mostly (all the time actually) Morrowind/Bloodmoon/Tribunal.
Dragorlad, make sure that you have the latest drivers for the graphics and sound cards, and the latest version DirectX V. 9bQuote:

Every once in a while (not often at all) I will play some of the SIM type games. The SIMS, SIM Golf, SIM City but those do get boring fast (for me anyways).I like Multiplayer games the best for LAN Parties.
freelancer had me for quite some time
if you havent played it ... high recommendation

I've never played Everquest which is probably a good thing because by the sounds of it I'd never stop playing. Morrowind was very enjoyable even though the fighting scheme was pretty basic, the world was just so expansive. I stopped playing before either of the expansions came out, but I'm afraid to play them, since I don't want to lose my job by not showing up for work. :DQuote:

You also said you had played Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. I'm just wondering what you thought of it because a review I read said the game was great but it was just too hard. Did you find it difficult to beat a lot of the missions?
Later,

You know...I had always heard that I would get addicted to Everquest if I ever started playing it. Everyone who played it was always telling me how great it was. A couple years later I picked it up and tried it for the free month. I did not get into it at all! I acually did not like Everquest (The only MMORPG's I have liked have been Lost Mercenaries and Graal) but everyone has there own tastes.
Graal was free and it was great a few years ago when I played it and it came with it's own level builder and programming language. You could build maps and submit them to be put on the server. Graal was very Zelda Like.
Well Halo and Freelancer got me going at one stage. Not bad game though. I would like to see the sequel for both games and see what happens next
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, great game and enjoyed it, finished the game as well :D Sad ending though.
Webshark2000, in regard to LOTR Return of the King. I found the attack on the Black Gate very very hard  But I enjoyed it. Would anyone out there have tips for that mission, did it once as Gandalf but it was a flook
user595212, Wendy. When I do start developing my own OS and charge at a good price, and meet the standards to everyone's expectations. No doubt there will be bundles.
Well your not the only one who wants first dibs :D Sooner or later time will tell
my all time fav game is sof1 (Soldier of Fortune 1) yes it isnt very realistic but i find games that are too realistic just arent that fun, thats why its in a game, is because in real life you couldn't do some of the things the game does. it is a FPS and gameplay is quite fast (another reason i like it). but there have been many great games mentioned on this thread and as a hardcore gamer i like what i read. GTA 3 and vice city are amazing games the world is huge in them. warcraft 3 is a great game. COD, Halo (i was lucky enough to test the game before it was released and multiplayer is great and the single player is just as stunning). many other good games but it really depends on what each person likes. not a pc game but my all time favorite game is probably Zelda: Ocarina of Time because not only was there action, but you also had to "solve" the levels to get through them and a great story as well.

That's the reason I enjoyed Max Payne so much. It didn't have the best graphics in the world (although they were good), but I loved the bullet time, I just couldn't get enough of that. It was great seeing the bullets flying through the air.Quote:

Enter the Matrix should have been a great game with the focus ablilty (basically bullet time), but because of a lot of glitches and just some poor gameplay it fell very short of it's potential. I still enjoyed it though, especailly when fighting the "vampires", that was when you could really show off the cool fighting moves the game has.
You know, another great sleeper game was the incredibly underrated Deus Ex. It was an awesome game. You had thousands of ways of getting through a mission. Each way had its consequences and rewards. If you blindly charged through the front gates, killing everyone, you would be scolded because you are a cop. The storyline was cool. Lots of twists and espionage and government corruption. Plus it was in the future. Robots, mechs and other things. Plus you were a nano-cyborg. Good stuff. You can find the Gold/platinum with level editor version for less than $20. Its a super great value
This is a little off topic, however I think that since this is such a popular thread that it might be a good place to find the answer to this question.
Is it illegal to download CD Cracks for games (even if you own the game and do not plan on letting anyone else get tehir hands on it). There are several reasons that I would like to be able to just play the games without use of the CD-ROM drive, however I have been hesitant about getting these programs.
Read the EULA of the game concerned - I can virtually guarantee it will prohibit use of a "no-cd" crack. In which case it is illegal to use one.
Don't know if the PC version was improved but when the PSX version was released Australian Playstation Magazine gave it a rating of 1/10 saying it was one of the worst games they had ever see / played.Quote:

Maybe the PSX version was just a bad port.
I've used a number of no-CD cracks in my time, and not afraid to admit it. Must be wary though as they can simply be trojans or other some such nasty.Quote:

I would appreciate it if the game makers would find another way... although I do understand their plight. UT2k3 ultimately patched the product so the CD was no longer required. Which I thought was damn nice! A very good PR move... or set it up to ask to see the CD every 5th time you start the game...
What's the big deal with having to put the CD in ?Quote:

If you own it, then you've got the CD and putting it in takes, oh, all of 20 seconds maybe ?
NO-CD cracks can also be used for backup cd's that were made in case the original CD gets ruined. As far as I know, backup cd's are allowed, but I am not sure if no-cd cracks are.
It's an ease of use issue Nix... and no, not difficult at all. Have to hunt down the CD, not always an easy task. It's a pain in the arse...
I bought my TV too... but I don't have to show it the reciept every time I turn it on... ;-)
Leave it to Australians to hate everything. Did they ban it too? Besides, I was referring to the PC game, not the sucky PS port
Hi SMG
I'm an Australian. I prefer if you don't insult us okay :(
Australia has not banned no cd crack websites because its safe to say. If you are the owner of the original game, and you want to make the CD last longer. You are allowed to download it. Also this would include making backup Cds, therefore it an't illegal
Mind you I know ways and means of obtaining no cd patches to make my CDs last longer through the websites I know of. I would prefer not to mention where I can find it on this forum.
All I can say is that it isn't illegal to download no cd patches to make your game last longer by running on the hard drive. However, as long you have the original disk of the game, you shouldn't have any hassels because you are the legal owner of the product you have.
Despite the idea of No CD patches, some people do abuse the system and thats where piracy takes in place. Suggest we avoid discussing this matter further

EDIT: Changed quote.
Thanks Nix. SMG, please ready my previous post. Just to make it clear, Australian's dont' hate everything, and it hasn't banned at the moment :cool:Quote:

Ah yes, but unlike game CDs, Televisions cannot be duplicated in a matter of minutes by the average home user for the cost of a CD-R and a few minutes electricty.Quote:

Ahhh... another side of the Nixmeister. Yeah, that's it, let's start a flame war...
There are many reasons people like to use no-CD patches, so back off in your own jack yard.
...legalities aside
True... Personally, I've used them now and again in a 'legal' manner. I own the game. Now, the EULA will no doubt have a different opinion.Quote:

Go read the Copyright Act 1968 again. Division 4A makes a few allowances for modification that can't be contractually excluded, but avoiding copy protection isn't one of them. That means when the copyright owner says 'you're not allowed to modify this software' in a license agreement, you're not allowed to modify it.Quote:

As for backup copies, subsection 47C(4)(b) specifically excludes the exception for backup copies (ie leaves making backup copies illegal) if the CD is copy protected.
For what it's worth, I do both of those - having to put a CD in is a pain, and if I can't find a no-CD crack I'll keep a backup copy so I don't have to be so careful with it. That doesn't make it legal though.
It's a matter of the 'letter' of the law and the 'spirit' of the law. Too many go beyond those parameters and into illegal areas.
Yes... Nix, I'd like my toast with peanut butter... while it's still hot so it melts into it. Yum!
What a shame.
I was enjoying this thread.
The last 16 posts are exactly the reason why V Dr does not have a gaming forum and discourages gaming discussion.
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
