Goose, all I'm getting is the (red X) placeholder in your post. I noticed it is from geocities. We looked into this awhile back and learned that geocities was blocking folks like us from hot-linking their images. I can see it if I go direct and return, though. Just wanted to pass this one for future reference. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

It's OK, I did some searching and found out what Valkyries are - well they're not a bit like barbie dolls LOL https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ .....then again the latest Barbie dolls (see above) are not exactly nice and sweet are they? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Goose,
I dunno... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Maybe it's just me. I'm getting the red X placeholder unless I check the properties on your image, copy the address and paste into my browser. I go and can see the image. Hit the back button and return here and the image is in place. Then if I hit the refresh button, the image disappears. The last time I saw this occur was awhile back with geocities images. Oh well, must just be my browser. Sorry, false alarm... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Cool image anyway, though. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Maxx, no, it's not just you. I'm getting the X as well. Yes, it will be Geocities remote blocking. Pasting the image url into a browser window will put it into your cache. I'm picking you have IE set to check for new version of the page every visit?
Clciking back is not a new visit but "refresh"ing is.
So what has happened is, You view the page and it's blocked, you then view image directly on geocities server, click back and the image is cached so it displays, click refresh and IE gets new version of page with image blocked (as Geocities want it to be).
Goose, as far as I can tell, if the image is part of an html page on your geocities site, it will be available for remote linking, otherwise it will be blocked if it is an "orphan" file on their server.
btw, those "Barbie" images were pushing the limit a bit for our AUP. I'm sure we all laughed but you have to remember this is a site that is viewed by minors. I'm leaving them alone though. In future you might like to link to that sort of thing with a "warning" about content rather than embedding into the post?

Smurfy: You're right, I didn't think about other younger members. I won't post articles directly like that in future. Sorry http://www.thejs.net/noncgi/smilies/28shame.gif

smurfy,
You are correct. I use IE with a setting for check for new page each visit. This geocities thing drove me, ghouldini, and a few others crazy awhile back trying to figure it out. I think Rog finally confirmed it for us. Glad it wasn't me, because I think I finally got IE to behave itself and didn't want to go in and tinker again. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Re: the Microsoft flag--I don't think there's any mystery there. It's a flying window with 4 panes showing the 4 most commonly used basic Windows colors.
Fire-engine red, royal blue, sun-yellow and emerald green are also a very common alone or in combination in toys, packaging, signs, etc.

ROFLOL, Roparis, that was funny after all the time spent looking for the answer. You probably have the best idea. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Ok, friends. Why cant we close all the windows and restart again and leave Bill Gates to face Pearly Gates.
After all most of us are here due to Bill Gates. See, its he who keeps us rolling, laughing, tearing our hair, preventing crashing ourselves outside Windows, helping us keep our jobs by blaming him for our own faults, and so on - the list is endless.
Ever wondered how much there is common in Bill Gates and XOR gate?
