How do you get the "Corporate" version? Do you have to work for MS or affiliate? I have an evaluation copy, but I don't really want to install something that will die in 60 days. I want to evaluate it more in the long term.

The only way to get a "Corporate Edition" is to be part of the Rapid Adoption Program or be a large company. The only reason you dont have to call them up with activation is because you bought a ton of licenses for over 100K.
I just bought a HP Pavillion Laptop with XP Home Edition pre-installed. Though I have only had it since yesterday, I am so far satisfied with the os. To my suprise, XP has not wanted to phone home. It says in the manual that I would need to activate it when I first started my pc. If not, I would be reminded. There was no mention of product activation during the setup process. Nor have there been any reminders.
So now, I have every os from M$. I must say that my favorite is still and always will be Windows2k Server. Followed by 98 with ME and XP catching up quick. I think XP may be able to take the place of 98 on this machine some day. I like the security options as well as the look and fell of XP. And I am sure, the more that I use it, the more it will grow on me. As long as it doesn't phone home!
Like or leave it? I am afraid that anyone wanting a new pc without XP is running out of time. By the end of the month, XP will be in most every new machine. So, if you want a new PC with ME, you need to go to the bank and then go to the store.

If you change the Fisher Price Interface to classic windows its great, almost everything is done by wizards, has not crashed yet.

If you cant fix it with duct tape, THROW IT OUT!
Just do like I do-Wait for the next release, probably in 2 years. I'm on WIN98-stable, but I'm a protagonist. I'll get around to getting it tomorrow. Bill Gates will have to wait till his next release to get my money. Or, maybe the release after that.
I am not a big fan of piracy either, but if M$ and Mr. Gates have gotten to be as big and as rich as they are with all the piracy that has been going on over the years, just think how big and rich they are going to be with no piracy.
They will be able to buy you, me, and the entire U.S.A., then change the name to the United States of Micro$oft.
Have a good day.

"Be extra good or I may not come see you next year."
I've also have had XP about 8 months now and I am currantly running the Gold final release version. I have yet to run into any major problems what so ever. I honestly think that microsoft has finally put out a damn fine O/S, and think if you guys decide to wait your going to miss out.
What I dont understand is the amount of people quick to jump the gun putting the O/S down, and microsoft for that matter.
I have installed XP pro. on all 6 boxes at home and love it, never will go back to to win 2k (which I thought I loved) or the dreaded win 9x family. But who the he** am I? I'm just some computer tech with nothing better to do with his time https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
