Hi Broni,
I thought that the kaspersky scan log said that I still have (quote) "File name / Threat / Threats count
H:\zxyfwx.exe Infected: Worm.Win32.AutoIt.yh 1" (end quote) ?
What does that mean actually? nothing bad i hope:confused:
Thanks,
cweidya
Oh, yeah, not a big deal. That's why we ran Kaspersky.
Whack that file, empty recycle bin.

Your computer is clean https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
1. We need to reset system restore to prevent your computer from being accidentally reinfected by using some old restore point(s). We'll create fresh, clean restore point.
Run OTL
- Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following:
Code::Commands
[purity]
[emptytemp]
[EMPTYFLASH]
[CLEARALLRESTOREPOINTS]
[Reboot]
- Then click the Run Fix button at the top
- Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
2. Now, we'll remove all tools, we used during our cleaning process
Clean up with OTL:
- Double-click OTL.exe to start the program.
- Close all other programs apart from OTL as this step will require a reboot
- On the OTL main screen, press the CLEANUP button
- Say Yes to the prompt and then allow the program to reboot your computer.
If you still have any tools or logs leftover on your computer you can go ahead and delete those off of your computer now.
3. Make sure, Windows Updates are current.
4. If any Trojan was listed among your infection(s), make sure, you change all of your on-line important passwords (bank account(s), secured web sites, etc.) immediately!
5. Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): http://www.mywot.com/. It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.
6. Run Malwarebytes "Quick scan" once in a while to assure safety of your computer.
7. Run Temporary File Cleaner (TFC) weekly.
8. Download and install Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI): http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/. The Secunia PSI is a FREE security tool designed to detect vulnerable and out-dated programs and plug-ins which expose your PC to attacks. Run it weekly.
9. (optional) If you want to keep all your programs up to date, download and install FileHippo Update Checker.
The Update Checker will scan your computer for installed software, check the versions and then send this information to FileHippo.com to see if there are any newer releases.
10. Run defrag at your convenience.
11. Read How did I get infected?, With steps so it does not happen again!: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic2520.html
12. Please, let me know, how is your computer doing.
Hi Broni,
Hope the OTL was done successfully cos my laptop stalled again and had to reboot by way of CTRL+ALT+DEL.
Here's the log that shows after rebooting:

Hi Broni,
I've installed WOT but the secunia is not running. Here's what it says when i tried to run it after installation:
quote:
"Unable to retrieve PSI user id from Secunia.
Please verify that you are able to connect to https://psi.secunia.com/ and then restart PSI.
NOTE: Proxy support for the PSI is currently unavailable, but is planned for a future release. If your system requires access to the Internet through a proxy you will not be able to use the application at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. "
end quote

Broni,

PC Tools AV should be just fine, but if you're unhappy with it...
- Avast! free antivirus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
- Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1...antivirus.html
Good luck and stay safe :)
Hi Broni,
I did updated the firefox and flashplayer successfully. I uninstalled pctools av and installed and ran avast. Result of avast is (open quote):
Threat Detected! C:\System Volume Information\_restore{83EB7840-1638-48BD-A5C6-B7F18192C7C9}\RP8\A0002649.exe
Severity:High
Threat: Win32:Runonce[Trj]
Action: (Move to Chest) Successful
(end quote)
What does this mean?
Thanks,
cweidya
System Volume Information folder holds your restore points.
If you ran steps from my reply #35, restore points would be reset already (old ones removed, new, clean one created).
Make sure, you finished all steps.
Dear Broni,
Thanks for all your help. Sorry for this very late reply.. Everything seems to be fine now. Appreciate all your help. :))
Cweidya
Very well :)
Good luck and stay safe :)
