Yes I like to play games some, but usually I edit video and pictures. I have an E7500 Wolfdale LGA775 45nm cpu 1066 fsbthat I would like to use. I would like it to be towards the bottom of the spectrum of the mobo in case of future upgrades.
Would it be better to go with vista premium or ultra. How about tigerdirect for barebones systems.
Some folks like them. But to be honest, I have always built mine. Like your barebone idea though.
Looks like I will be attempting my first build. Any suggestions on a good budget system.
State budget as well as any/all components being re-used from previous system.
Somewhere around $1000.00 and I plan on reusing monitor speakers and optical drives.
Neither, wait for Win 7, it will be out in a couple of weeks, and it's the best Windows so far by a long way :)
Have a look here to compare features:

What do you think about the EVGA X58 SLI LE barebones kit at tigerdirect.
It would help if you could pot a link to it ;)
I really don't like the case or power supply I was thinking of antec 900 case and corsair 750 watt power supply. I feel that this is a very good cpu any suggestions on mobo and mem.
The CPU, RAM and hard drive are fine. I'm not particularly impressed with anything else. I've always stuck with either Gigabyte or Asus for motherboards for the last 10 years, and I've never regretted it once.
I'm building myself a new Core i7-920 rig this week too :)
Intel Core i7 920,ASRock X58 Extreme LGA 1366,WD1001FALS Caviar Black,Corsair CMPSU-850TX,Antec 900 case,BFG Tech EGTX260MC896 OC2DE,Corsair Core i7 Dominator 6Gb Pc312800,windows 7 Home Premium. Opinions welcome because this is my first build. If I have left anything out please let me know. I have optical drives in current system.
Ditto to use of GIGABYTE mobo.
That particular Corsair power supply is actually manufactured by CWT so I'm a bit leery about that.
Personal preference would be Seasonic brand for power supply.
