thanks photolady, yes i booted into the beta and used it i just dont understand how mthe format did not erase it.

Since you didn't delete the partition also, before formating that's where you goofed. I've seen this happen on Dell computers where you only formatted, it would leave the original in place.

You're going to have to start over. Delete the partition, then create a new one, then format, and install Windows 7 RC.
