I haven't tried Firefox, but I have it on my home computer, so I could certainly try it on the laptop as well. One point of concern, IE doesn;t work at all at work with my laptop in the docking station but it does work with hmy wireless connection at home. The scary part is that whenever i do a search for something at home (Google, etc) and I find a link to what I'm looking for, I click on it and either nothing happens, or I'm redirected to a suspicious website (hotjobs.yahoo.com, couponmountain.com, monstersearch.com, etc), so it sure seems like something is still controlling my browser. Any thought? And thanks again for all your help, it certainly seems ot be getting better even if it's not there yet.
Please, upload tracert.exe file, located in:
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\qurja1\MYDOCUMENTS\CROSOFwhatever_letters_follow folder to: http://www.virustotal.com/ for security check.
I didn't find that folder in the pathway you gave. I did find a Microsoft folder (is that what you meant by crosof...?)but there are no files in it, even when I'm showing the hidden files.
I did a search for the file name you gave, and found tracert.exe and tracert6.exe in the c:\windows\system32 folder, are these maybe the ones you're looking for?
Can you give me one more HJT log?
Maybe CCleaner got rid of that file...
These are legit.Quote:

Absolutely, here's the latest and greatest:

Very good. What's IE situation?
Did you try to upgrade to ver. 7?
Did you try Firefox?
IE is still off, I did try to upgrade to version 7 and it didn't work at all, when I uninstalled it the old version worked (and still works) on my home wireless, but at work I can't get to any external websites. Even going to a website via opening the My Computer icon, I can get online but if I click on anything that opens in a new window it can't connect.
Things are still a little quirky too, programs will lock up and/or freeze the whole computer, everything is slower in general, etc. I'm certainly not complaining, your assistance has helped tremendously, but I'm not sure what else to do to get it back to where it was.
Thanks
What about Firefox?
What are computer specs?
Firefox seems to work great, I'm still a little concerned because IE keeps redirecting me, doesn't that mean something's still messing with the computer? But no issues with Firefox, so even if there's something in there, at least it's not causing issues that are visible.
Not sure what you mean by computer specs, it's a Dell Latitude D610, does that help or are you looking for other info?
Thanks
Somehow, I didn't notice, but there is one more HJT entry, which has to be removed. Checkmark:
- O20 - Winlogon Notify: hgGvSIxY - C:\WINDOWS\
Click Fix checked. Restart computer.
Post new HJT log.
Computer specs: processor speed, amount of RAM, hard drive size/free space.
Apologies for my ignorance, but is there a way to check for processor speed and RAM? Hard drive is 55.8 gigs with 11 gigs of free space.
