I presume you're talking about 'a tutorial'?Quote:

Norton
SpywareBlaster
Spybot
Adaware
AOL pop up blocker (Works very well, blocks all ads including those here on Vdr)
AOL Spyware protection.
AOL spam controls (Works very well)
Keep everything up todate.
I never:
Click OK on any pop up until I've read it.
Close a pop up with 'close'. Always use the X.
Look at my email carefully before opening.
And I try to avoid dubious sites.
Think that's about it.
I have seen some statements such as "Don't click on this or that" but nothing that would sort out for the user what really needs to be done. If there were, it could and very possibly would shake the entire cottage industry that has been built up and costs the computer user both time and money.Quote:

Let us say a good tutuorial on the subject?
Where it explained how to do what was needed ?
I have not.
But a turorial as such, never!
TJ, thanks for posting!Quote:

Tj now retires to the corner and starts to write the prologue to his new book entitled...................................?
Want to help Train/Greengoose?
(We could make a killing)
AHH, you notice us noticing.
"How to make it simple would be an answer."
TJ, the companion thread with alot of food for thought is here:

Still be clean.
Seems my idea of watching what I do is working just fine.
Well I don't use a firewall  and don't think I'm infected in any way.
I regularly use NAV 2002, SBS&D, Ad-Aware, Asquared all up todate.
Use ADSL connection so maybe my ADSL modem has a built in firewall (limited) ?
Also don't leave machine on at all times, only when in use so maybe connected for 4 hours at a time at most ??
I keep seeing that most unprotected PCs get infected within 5 minutes , am I just lucky or is my simple protection I'm using working.
Nix,
Should you be unfortunate and catch a nastie that wants to access the internet, would you be able to detect it, with your set-up?

I don't know - you tell me.Quote:

I should mention that i regulary use Ctrl+ALt+Delete to see what processes are running, check MSCONFIG and Startup and also after extended periods online search for files created or modifed in the last 2-3 days.
I have picked up a dialler once by doing this.
Other than that AA, SBSD or AS have picked up things.
The reason I asked is that IMO, a firewall like ZoneAlarm, can stop the dialers and other nasties from accessing the internet.....and I see that as a possible hole in your defense.....but I may be wrong??Quote:

Maybe I have just been lucky.
Or don't stay connected long enough.
Or when I do, chekcing all those things saves me ??
