Ski I did get the 68% from System Properties>Performance by right clicking My Computer>Properties.
System Monitor says Unused System Memory is 122M and SwapFile in Use is almost at 0. This is good, yes?
BTW, I installed and ran delindex (very easy) and it reported;
Free Space before - 8,935.07MB
Free Space after - 8,947.77MB
a grand total of 12.70MB reclaimed, which seems to mean to me that my maintenance is pretty thorough?
122MB of unused memory and no swapfile activity is good, and an increase of 12.7MB in unused HD space after running delindex is also good.
Did you check to see if the files which you previously could not delete from the 'D/L Programs Files' folder are now gone after running delindex?
Also, write down all of the programs that are checked in msconfig/Startup, and then uncheck all of them except for the following(this is my exact Startup configuration), and see if doing that speeds things up:
PopUpStarter
SysTray.exe
scanregw.exe
zonelabs\vsmon.exe
zonela~1\zoneal~1/zoneal~1.exe
Delindex did take care of those objects in DPF. Interestingly, it made them visible first too. I could see the porn dialers sitting in the Ravonline virus scanner folder for the first time after running delindex. I wonder if it's common for such objects to be iinvisible. I wonder if they didn't get put there by Ravonline AV just to show how it could pick up things other AVs didn't?
Actually, sufing has picked up since I moved chktrust.exe out of Windows>System onto a floppy. I looked around for a place to download a fresh exe but can't find it. SFC still doesn't let me install from my CD, it just puts me in a loop.
Thanks much for your help. Any other suggestions/utilities you can suggest? That delindex blows my mind!
Ski Ravonline just ran and didn't put in or pull up anything suspicious. I'm cured!

Thanks for the link Leurgy. All I did was download it to my desktop and cut and paste it into Windows>System....I didn't follow the steps there involving FixBlast. Correct?

Seeing as SpyBot and AdAware missed my HD uninvited visitors and it took much to get them off my HD, do you subscribe to any other spyware utilties? I have Sentinel, SpyFerret, SpywareSweeper and SpywareGuard all on my desktop ready to be installed. Do you use any of these - or what, if not?
and where are you in ontario?

I found chktrust.exe on my machine under C:\Download_Archived\W32KlezE@mm Removal Tool, so it looks like I got it when I downloaded a virus removal tool which I never really needed. The file appears to be 23kb long
I have SpywareBlaster too and check for updates whenever I get online, but it missed 3 incidents of Bargain Buddy and 1 of ISTtoolbar. Aluria found them, and RavonlineAV found 4 supicious (tracking I think) files (PornDialers). Maybe I won't be getting so much spam from people offering me intimate photos of their hot sisters? :rolleyes:

I use Spybot S&D, Adaware and AVG. Until I saw your thread I had not heard of Aluria or RavonlineAV, but will check them out sooner rather than later.
No, you don't need the FixBlast tool as long as you have the current Windows Updates, and no signs of MsBlast. It seems that chktrust.exe is a file verification tool used with Virus fixes to authenticate files.
BTW, even if I had intimate photos of my sisters, I wouldn't offer them to anyone, they're not that hot. :D
Lucky you - what a beautiful part of Ontario you have at your doorstep. I used to spend much of my summers a bit further north just outside of Honey Harbour. I'm a wanna be astronomer, so I envy the beautiful skies you have every (clear) night. Not many stars here - just the arrogant 2 legged ones!
Do give Ravonline a try - it's free and pretty thorough. Panda online is good too. And do you know about delindex.dat? It was the only way I could get 4 suspcious files (Porn Dialers) out of my Windows>Download Prog Folder. Ravonline found them but you have to purchase the full product for removal option. And Aluria found 4 other nasties. I wonder why SpyBot and AdAware missed those things - everyone swears by them.
Truly, I virtually never visit porno sites cause they don't really do anything for me, but I have friends.......
