Why do we seem to have so many problems trying to get win95 on a puter that was built in oct /94 i have a darius puter also that was built earlier than this and put win 95 on it with no problems, Is AST just a piece of junk or ???? sure would like to get this ast running win 95 it's trying so hard to load it but always hits a problem

I agree with Vernon I think you have a bad stick of Ram and that is why you can't get Win 95 installed. If there is more then one stick try removing one or more and only leave one in, may have to swap out sticks until you find a bad one if it is bad memory.

Well gentlemen i just read vernons post and went back to the puter and pulled all 4 ram out so i could get the #'s to purchase new ones and then just for the H of it when i put them back i switched the top 2 and then switched the bottom 2 well then i turned on the puter and stood way back Ha Ha well this darn thing loaded win 95 in safe mode advising me the master boot had been changed and then i went thru the ok's etc it restarted itself and now loads win 95 properly sooo? we all succeeded,
outsmarted another puter HuH thank you all so much for the help over the past week .. now i will try to see if it accepts a mouse/modem/printer/ etc so you just might be hearing from me again THANKS AGAIN

Apparantly the memory probably was not seated properly. Or the first two are OK and one of the last two are bad.
If you boot to SAFE MODE, Himem will test memory, its a fairly good memory tester.
