Bistro must have blessed BT today as I came up with a free 15"monitor until I can save up enough for the 19". Don't know how well it works until I get home. If it does then I can think about networking the Compaq and BT together and as Sarkazztic said, I would now have a test monitor. OK guys, I know this may be a bit premature, but I'm going to start some preliminary work on our next Delta machine, "Q" - FedEx delivered the XP1700 CPU and the hard drive coolers this afternoon, so all of the pieces are there - but I'll still be ordering the case fan, floppy, maybe an extra IDE cable, and a TV tuner card tonight.
I have my webcum up and working, so if you read this and want to take a look the work in progress, surf over to http://www.spragers.com/computer.html and launch the webcam. In between minor steps I'll work on the component cost lists etc.

Moving everything around, I guess we need to use the living room for actual living now *shrugs*
Once I get all of the components moved down here I will be working on installing the hard drives into the cooling fan brackets. I've found out that I won't have enough time at once in my schedule tobuild "Q" all at once, so we'll be taking it step by step as time permits, mainly weeknights and a bit on weekends.

Something to make note of in the review of this project... back to work...
For anyone who's on tonight, I'm going to go through some preparations for the building of "Q" - that is, checking the drive mounting locations, figuring out which drives will go where, etc. Tomorrow, hopefully, I will start a new thread and begin the actual build - Either mounting drives, or the mobo components - but not until after I come up with a checklist (don't worry, bistro https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ )

*yawns* ok, I've got the mounting order figured out, and bistro, I've added a few steps to your list (setting up the RAID disks, for example, and boarding the shutters for when the tornado kicks up https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ ) Time to hop over to newegg.com, order a couple case fans, IDE cables (mobo came with two, but each drive is on it's own channel, so I'm two short), then look for that TV tuner again. Not necessary but a nice addition. BTW I plan on using a "regular" keyboard until I get the OS up and running, then install the cordless one.

you can do us a favor by trying out the cordless keyboard before windows setup is even begun.
a friend told me he has one, and says he can access BIOS and DOS without problems.
the cordless mouse, well, when it shows in the initial setup screens, it will work on standard driver...
this intrigues me.
but, good hardware should work this way.
(in an old tip I posted about modems, I mentioned that any 56K modem that can do its job in DOS, is a full hardware modem... full hardware modems will perform better than any winmodem.)

hmm... my reasoning was that it is a USB device, but it also has PS/2 connectors. I'll give them a try, just won't be able to use all those fancy bells 'n' whistles right away. Don't really need a scroll wheel in BIOS though do we? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Would somebody please post Bistros list? That way whoever wants to look at it can, and I can also put it on the website when I get the chance. Hadn't found the list in the old topics and eventually I gave up. I will also be posting a link to Spargers page and webcam when I update the website. But we still don't have any date for the build.
