Jaak.....did you forget the meds today?

sarrkazztic: Easy. First squeeze out the entire contents of the Artic Silver tube onto that antique dining table of yours, then take a 3-inch paint brush.... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Actually, you just need to spread a very thin layer on the chip anywhere the HSF actually makes contact. For chips with the "postage stamp" core showing, that's the only surface the HSF makes contact with. The surrounding surface of those chips are not in actual contact and thus do not need or benefit from a thermal paste film. In your case, the entire surface should have a film.

If anyone starts spreading anything on my antique dining table I will format their hard drives....

You don't realize how much time went into refinishing the antique dining table....almost as much time as was spent on the original delta computer..... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Whoa! That long??? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Hey GG1, if you haven't already, now would be a good time to check that mobo for how many standoff holes it has and compare that with the number of standoff screws that came with the case. Hopefully you won't have to order more. Always have a few extra. Remeber also that they come in different sizes--no real "standard"--best to order them from the same company as the case.
-
what can I say I am a perfectionist.....To save Goose a little time from internet shopping for standoffs....if you are short some take 1 of the ones that came with the case to the local computer parts store and match it up with what they have for sale....of course the local store for you is several miles away if I have read correctly....but surely there is something that you will need from the store before you start putting BT together....make your list and check it twice....better safe than sorry you do not want to be driving 60 miles each way on the night that you want to put BT together...
-
Noooooo.....you don't understand! I want GG1 to rack up that credit card!! And driving 60 miles the night he's putting BT together just adds to the thrills and chills of building your own!! I laugh at the face of misery!!! Boooooaaaahhh-ha-ha!!

When he said 60 miles, he failed to mention the fact he had already driven 40 https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
