yeah, OEM are supposed to do some burn in (and when I saw an assembly line described in a zine some ys ago, it seems they do, but they may not do all?)
I suppose they put a base install clone on, and fire it up.

if the drive dies in the assembly line, why not count it in expected life cycle statistics?
an OEM seeing many instances of this will soon get another model/other brand.
