Ohhhh Bistro! Did you win the lottery ! https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
That thing's a mile tall!
SO... have you decided what you want on that fancy Window?
-
Hell No! https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ It retails for 169. (Better be made of gold if it costs over 250...).
Just thinkin' at this point...Would want a different mobo and have to get a diff modem also; so it's a ways off right now....
No decision on the Window right now...Kama Sutra is out... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Gonna sleep on it...Nite All...

Morning All, I'm back. Unexpected death in family. Interesting posts while I was gone.
Train, Doing any computer stuff there?
Bistro, Liked those two links. Added them to list. Sent E mail to you and Train and QoH before leaving and according to what I got back, never got through to you.
Queen of Hearts, How's the "extended modding project" going?
Be Well.

Other than getting some problems out and cleaning this computer. Not much. Will read email and stuff when I get home tomorrow night. Left my floppy at home, darn https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
bistro waits a couple weeks and the price may drop a hundred or so.
Have to clean up the area that I used to clean this computer. First time in 4 years. Why it had not overheated ??? Must be the question of the year. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Hi greengoose1. Hope all is well--sorry for the family news.
That link to Virtual Hideout isn't working--at least on my end. It's been down for two days now. Keep checking--the link is correct, just problems on their homefront. it's fun to just spend some time going through the whole gallery. Some pretty wild mods there. From what I gather, 80 to 90 percent of them are on full towers. More room for big windows. Bear in mind though: more bays=more devices=better get a mobo that supports more than 4 IDE devices (i.e 2x IDE, 2x ATA connections; will support 8 devices--or a mobo with 2 ATA connections).
Future plans:
Antec SX1240 tower case
Abit SA6R mobo--has 815e chipset--very stable for Pentium chips and has ATA/RAID.
OK....I know what ya'll are thinkin'...why then did I recommend the Abit BX133-RAID mobo to you when "we" were building? Because it was the best choice at the time, considering cost and versatility (can put up to 8 devices on it and overclockability among other things). No need to upgrade that mobo any time soon. It's a "keeper". If you choose to go to a full tower case in the future, you've already got the mobo that will support the extra devices. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

My condolences also, greengoose.
Train, I know you gotta be missing "jr".
Bistro, when TA gets ready (soon...she's findin' the money... http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/net8/newangel.gif ) I'm thinking we ought to use the same Motherboard we used--ABIT BX 133 RAID. 'sides, I already RTFM... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Money....WHY does it always seem to be a question of money? I've just GOT to find a computer store that trades for beads and pelts....got plenty of those....
-
Thanks Guys, I'm thinking the same thing on the Abit BX 133 Raid , QoH. Why get rid of a winner?
Any body got a recent source for Win98 SE CD that I can install in the unit I am going to build?

All you need is an Upgrade version of 98SE and any copy of a 95 CD. Can do a full install of 98 that way instead of purchasing the full version 98 CD.
-
Missing jr. You bet. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Even old compaq is faster, by far.
Greengoose
I used Windows 3.1 floppies when I installed 98SE upgrade on my computer. It is cheaper after all.
Goose failed to read closely earlier, sorry to hear the bad news. My appology for missing it.

Morning All, Thanks for the info on Win98SE.
Heres one for ya'all. Try Web Ferret if you haven't already. This will dig out info on the web if it's there.
Look at brainbench.com. Interesting.
