Loaded Direct X 8.0a today. Tried the 2001 after installing and it would not start. So after a half hour uninstalled it. Will see if I can download it I guess.
200 runs slower in 8 than in 7.

Real curious on that 3DMark 2001---understand the scoring is different. Just when I got used to breaking 7000, they go and change things https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Such is life....
Note to DrMDJ (if you happen to be reading): Had to return that Promise ATA 100 controller card (wanted to add my ZIP drive to it). As you recall, it wouldn't boot for nothing---kept getting a DOS "Configms" error. Went and replaced it with a Siig ATA 100 on a chance. Booted right up, no conflicts. I have my ZIP drive back---go figure...
EDIT: Just downloaded 2001 off a T3 line--took about 40 minutes. Not bad compared to over 2.5 hours via modem. Will try it out tonight.

On 2000, I took a hit after loading Direct X 8
on 2001 , could not even open it and it needs 128MB ram and 600 cpu minimum.
QOH has the ulead graphics program which I hear is a bear to work with. Seems you have to configure your system for it. As it needs its own swap file.

Running 1.03ghz with 320 RAM. 3DMark 2001 runs--pretty awesome. Got a score of 2732, which is fairly decent according to what I read on that particular forum. However, be forewarned--when they say it puts the system throught the grinder, they weren't kidding. Noticed in some of the tests, it doesn't run quite as smoothly as the equivalent test in 2000--it's testing harder. Although the demo is great, in some ways, I like the 2K demo better. The 2001 has some tests also that are 'reserved" for GeForce 3 I think; so they don't run--not sure if this effects the score. Hope you can get yours going soon.

Maybe try going to Display properties settings and set the Adapter for "Adapter Default" rather than "Optimal". or set it for 60hz.
