I use a cookie manager called winpatrol that I find useful
WinPatrol with Scotty the Windows Watch Dog will sniff out Worms, Adware, Spyware, Cookies, Trojan horses and other virus type, malicious, nasty "mysteryware" that may attack your computer. WinPatrol puts you back in control of your computer with no need for constant updates.
WinPatrol is free and fully functional with the exception of full access to our PLUS online database. The free version continues to be both; a utility to help you safely clean up sensitive areas on your system and a system monitor that will alert you to changes that occur to those sensitive areas and resources.

Hmmm lol, sorry, comma gone.
also use ashampoo 2000 that I recieved with a magazine cd, probably a bit old now though, to clean up files, dlls and the like, me thinks me should go through these postings to see if there is anything similar but more up to date.
KMW ... The URL is not working need to remove the comma

I would be totally remiss if I did not include this little gem, that I am not going to do without from now on, as it is absolutely essential to saving me time and frustration... It is called Scopeware Vision, a very unique "search tool" on steroids, and amphetamines, and peyote, and spinach, and, well you get the idea -- ya have to use it for a while to understand the power of it...
If interested, some reviews which can say it better than I can...

http://www.pcnet-online.com/content...ware-vision.htm
http://www.smallbusinesscomputing.c...cle.php/2193081
Disclaimer, in case you missed it in the reviews: entails some CPU overhead, a learning curve, and an initial indexing that can take hours dependant upon the amount of data you choose to catalog to be searched....but it will save you time and frustration, unless you have some magical means to organize muliti-gigs of info such that you know where everything is that you have done for the last 10 years... And, the personal version costs $30, but I noted that they have a free version but with banner ads....
a search tool ...!
why not a free one, then ?
Agent Ransack @ http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/default.aspx
Aimeric is there anything that you do not know!!! lol. I am fixin to check this one out, sometimes i can't find a file through regular windows search. Thanks to both of you for mentioning it.
AIMERIC (back a couple...) -- sorry, in retro, I was derelict in detailing the power of Scopeware...
And conversely, I have used agent ransack; it is horrendously slow, it is painful to view results, it is archaic, it is a dinosaur in comparison, and I repeat, Scopeware is by comparison to other search tools that I am aware of: "a very unique "search tool" on steroids, and amphetamines, and peyote, and spinach, and, well you get the idea -- ya have to use it for a while to understand the power of it..."
NOTE: There IS a free version of Scopeware, a personal version, for $30, and a pro version for $80 (which would only be for corporate network use).
Now. Scopeware might not be for everyone, but in this age of mamoth giga HDs and retaining data for years, for those of us that have tons of data (and a fast machine...), this is an excellent tool to find things ultra fast and to then view the results easily, with short header info of the results and visual thumbnails, etc...., including email, and WAY MORE than I can go into here.
Lastly, I have to at least elaborate on a test that I did between the two search tools: searching on an argument common to many files, emails, etc. that I have generated over the years, Agent Ransack took about ten minutes and found only a few text files, Scopeware took only a few seconds, and found everything, even emails, etc, on the subject, and it was easy to view/preview the results in scopeware WITHOUT opening the hits. I could go on and on, with things like handling RSS feeds, but like I tried to get across earlier, you have to take the time to experience it to understand. IMHO Scopeware is the next generation of search tools for those that need it... Disclaimer -- there are some drawbacks, like a learning curve, initial indexing of files that can take hours depending on the amount of data indexed, some ovherhead (that is controllable tho), and so on... but the end result saves time and frustration (plus, it flat out obviates the need to TRY to be organized to be able to find something later on...)...
Where is the free version for this scopeware and the last link will not work for me?
luvskenny, re your quote "where is free version"
Well, I saw references to the availability of a free version in several places, including PC Mag site, and even a breakdown of the available features of the free, personal, and pro versions, but after throroughly perusing the Scopeware site, I saw nothing of the free version. My guess is, they have changed their offering and are no longer providing the free version, so cancel that...
edit: somewhere, I found the cost version offered for a discounted price of $25, but not sure where that was at this point...if anyone finds it, let me know...
Also, finally ran across a more extensive listing of all file locators at the link below, and must note that the cost version of Agent Ransack, called File Locator Pro, received a five star rating and Scopeware only received a four star rating, and FLP is less than half the cost of Scopeware, so guess that I will check that out before forking over any money, altho I have seen some screen shots of FLP and it simply did not look impressive based solely on that. Anybody out there have any input on FLP?

Also, on your note that the third link did not work for you, just do a search on Vivisimo engine and in the results select the "reveiws" cluster and you will get back more than you wanna know...
EDIT: link for free version below -- FYI, free version drops many features, such as email and pim searching and RSS feeds, so it it basically only for searching for files (still, it is faster and more accurate than other search tools, that also do not have those "extras")...
