I haven't had any problems either.

I found a couple Jupitermedia sites that the color scheme seems much more "easy on the eye":

And a bit darker grey post background (referring to only the top post) here
This one has to be my all time personal favorite, very very soothing IMHO!

I like the colors in the first two links...not bad. But that third place....that green reminds me of the old wallpaper my grandma had plastered all over her house....:)....don't care for it.
-
Yeh, when I went back and took a further look, the green was a bit much. I personally like sites done in soft sages, when offset with the right colors (silver, cream, white). But that's just my .02. If not mistaken, there was a Jupiter site done in that scheme, it was really very nice. I'll be darned if I can find it though, will have to keep looking. At any rate, we don't want to bring back a childhood memory that could be traumatic, Bistro. ;) 'Course that might pale in comparison to what you've been exposed to in your travels upon/around Pentium Mt. :D
-
It might be the letters themselves of text causing this discomfort. Look at the letters closly. They are not "sharp and crisp" either on the gray or white.
And as Bistro was encircled on the mountain .............. he knew..............

Yea verily.
(Bistro-speak for "You betcha")

LOL @ Bistro. Yep, gg1, I do believe you've hit it - squinting makes it better :D

Just curious,,does anyone having problems such as the ones mentioned not have 'clear type' turned on? This has caused problems for me no matter what the background colors may be... ;)
-
Hope its not been mentioned before and excuse me if it has but can we [I] have a last 48Hr link next to the new posts link thanks?

Hi Ridge,
Yes, I have clear type turned on (in IE). Most of the time I'm viewing the site from Mozilla. I can't see a discernable difference between the two browsers. The visual discomfort is there in either browser, at least for me (and wasn't there before upgrade.) I'm using a 18" LCD, 1280x1024.
-
I have problems with cleartype turned on generally. On any monitor I use, lap or desktop it always make letters look somewhat soft or blurred. I prefer no cleartype. I've even tried the advance cleartype programs that allow you to vary the size and intensity.
-
Is there a way that the type could be made a little 'darker', that would make it easier to read, and IMO relieve eye strain for some folks....(myself included).
Kind of like the way bold is printed...darker?
also, how does one turn on 'clear type'?
-
poppy right click the desktop choose properties then apperance at the top then effects, option is there
-
I would turn clear type off. It "anti-aliases" the fonts, making them appear smoother, but less sharp and distinct.

I like the first link that Katmac supplied (this one ). It is very pleasant to look at, and easy to distinguish between the users details and his post.
JP, what was decided about the VDr homepage? Are any changes going to be made to it?
I also commented somewhere in this thread about the use of attachments. I find it annoying that it opens up a new window/tab instead of allowing me to choose them as it used to be in V2.
