Good morning! Had a busy weekend so I couldn't get back---3 birthday parties; yikes! Will be going to Walter Reed tomorrow for an all-day extravaganza; fun to be had by all https://discussions.virtualdr.com/.
Spent late last night playing with a new mobo and a 933mhz PIII. Lots of fun tweaking here and there. Hope everybody's doing well.
Have to go back to work now--will be spending lunchtime upgrading a friend's system.

No, my boidday wasn't in there...I quit my birthdays a while back...don't want to be reminded how fast the year went by. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Got this new board--not bad. And the 933 screams (the 384mb of RAM doesn't hurt either https://discussions.virtualdr.com/) Still messin' with it to optimize it all out.
Hey, here's a tweak if you find Windows Explorer isn't refreshing like it should. I.E.: On bootup, sometimes you'll find Explorer missing a drive and/or when you make a new folder and rename it, it still shows up as "New Folder" in C: until you hit F5 to refresh (then the renamed folder or drive shows up). This will help eleiminate the problem:
Double-click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Go to System>CurrentControlSet>Control>Update folder
Go to the right pane and right-click on UpdateMode and select Modify. Change the "01" to "00"
Click on OK and exit the Registry Editor

Night all, yipes past my bed time.
Sister called last night and asked me if I send you a link will you download it and put it on a disk for me. It will take me 7 hours to download it.
I said ok. 28.6 MB in 4 min 2 sec. No wonder she called and asked. Bad phone lines, she has them all right. Now, she can come and get the cd. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Train, I must report that the QoH is feeling frisky today. She has mentioned the terms "old geezers" and "old coot" today on 98. It must be the overclocking syndrome beginning.
Now for my question. If the voltage of a CPU were dropped by one tenth of a volt would the resultant speed be higher or lower? I say higher, and I started from the premise of E=IR, the old starting point. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

but, is Backwards https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ . Yes you need to change several other things so they are all matched.
But, that would be down the road apiece.

If we raise the voltage, current can go up but with more current, the resistance would rise creating heat which would slow things done, I thought. Back to digging. Thanks.

QoH: Yep, they're mine--took the plunge. Soyo SY-7VCA2 and a 933 PIII FC-PGA. Still playin' with it. Trip to WR was uneventful--told me the condition may or may not be permanent. Had to drink a couple of "delicious" https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ barium milkshakes this morning. Really settles the ole' digestive system...yeah, right....
Weird thing to look at a TV screen and see your innards on live TV. He even found a few mobo mounting screws in there (I always wondered where those went....) (Just kidding).

I like a good POLKA. maybe a Twist, a dash of swing, sock hop is good also. What is wrong with a waltz.

Yes that stuff is nasty...but the milkshake is prefered over the barium enema. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
So how fast are you flying. Hey ! How come you got so much RAM ?
Bistro, how do you make those sounds in the wav's work for connection ? I hear a couple in there for that, but I can't figure out how to get them there. Can it be done ? It isn't an option in the Sounds of the Control Panel.
Wha'd the jalapenos do, Train...cauterize them ? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Almost forgot ! I did my wire wrapping today. That split loom stuff is a pain in the butt, I finally got it aroung the hugest bundle (the ones that plug into the Motherboard). Then I used the spiral cable wrap for the rest, Y'ing off where it needed to be. Looks right nice in there now. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ The only ones I didn't get were the CDROM to sound card (little bitty red and black double twisted one) and the Golden Orbs three single wires. Left the extra connection ends where I can get to um,(for when I get that CD-R/RW...real soon https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ ) but tucked them behind the front intake fan. Looks nice and neat. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

THE KITCHEN FUNNIES:
After a long, bumpy flight, our passengers were glad to finally land.
They disembarked, and the other attendants and I checked for items
left behind. In a seat pocket, I found a bag of home-made cookies
with a note saying "Much love, Mom." Quickly, I gave the bag to our
gate agent in hopes it would be reunited with its owner.
In a few minutes, this announcement came over the public-address
system in the concourse: "Would the passenger who lost his cookies
on Flight 502, please return to the gate?"
Talk about miss wording. LOL LOL

Why so much RAM? Because it was there..... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Like to do a lot of 3D graphics, presentations, etc. and normally have 3 to 4 graphics rendering programs open at once. Extra RAM is good thing in that case. Have another 128 in the wings to make it 512--think I'll quit there.
Jalepenos right now would be like having Moana Loa go off in my stomach--thanks, but no thanks. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Gosh, I hope not. This was a two times deal for me. Son got hit with flu and streep at same time. People being turned away from Drs. and hospitals.
Seattle, hit with quake little while ago with epiccenter 30 miles deep. Felt as far away as Salt Lake City. Hope Train and the others ok.

Oh ! me too greengoose, https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ haven't been watching TV...I'll go see.

All okay in this household. Son has a bottle of colored water break in the middle of his bed. That was thw worst at home.
Elvis was not the King of Rock and Roll. Not me either as I was seated at the time. My forklift tried to make like a bucking Bull though. I was stopped so it did not get away with that.
Had two 2" pipes break, at work, so we had had a bunch of water on the floor.
Glad it was not the 8" or 12" pipes.
Kind or wierd looking at a 30' tall concrete wall swaying back and forth about 2'.
Lost the lights and as you can see they are back on. Went out for dinner and when we got back they were on. So came up to let you know that all is well here.

Glad to see you and yours are OK, Train. Was at Ft. Lewis a few years back when Seattle got hit with a minor tremblor. Like being on a rollercoaster with rollerblades on. Kinda spooky.
Apologize for being out of the loop. Decided to take a small break while dealing with this acid reflux business.
Not to influence you in any way, QoH (and don't you go and burn out your new system, either! https://discussions.virtualdr.com/), but I managed to get the 933 to 1.03 ghz with stability. Running well below max op temps also. Think I'll quit there while I'm ahead. Runs great.
Greengoose1: Your post above---does that mean you'll be ready to go soon, or just lookin'?

Could I be a just a blur due to my speed ? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
