Q_O_H
Yes, the dropping of prices is nice, and Reading the spec's on a new computer and it has ddr-600 ram and that means there is a surlus of our type as Compaq has switched. Still their ram is 238 verses our 70
greengoose1
I have noticed, while checking the local store ads, both published verses on line, A difference of $15 and that I conclude that is to cover shipping and handling cost for most of them. And the cheaper ones add shipping and handling. Just my observation so far. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Check outwww.memman .com, I found some good prices i.e. PIII 866EB $239
The ice storm continues. Prices on components seem to be slipping futher. Perhaps Jan. and Feb. will be good buy times in fact. Looks quiet tonight.
Chr15, you are finding better prices. Keep looking. You should have typed this [url=, no bracket at the beginning of your link.
Train, WD 30GB 7200 HD for $139 and WD 20GB 5400 HD for $99. 128SDRAM for $89.
QoH, who has the tool kit you got?
Bistro get the dust off and new paint on?
$$$ wise things are looking good https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Hope the new computer source mag. hits the steets this week. Want to check things out.
I see those prices in Circuit City ads. And some competitors are the same https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Now for the independents.Might save enough for a 17" monitor. .Lizard????

Morning All, Pretty much iced in here. Later
Morning,
greengoose,
Keep that stuff up there, please. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Train,
I'm still watching prices. I imagine they'll drop even more after the first, too.
Seems like a bunch of them got goodies for christmas and are yelling for HELP.
And someone was worried that vdr would run out of business. Not with the good folks here. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Am a watchin' also.

I am trying to surface from all the links Train has put on different posts. QoH, he is bent on keeping us loaded up with stuff to learn. Trying to make us say uncle, I'm sure.
Heard from Bistro anyone? Later.
A lot to learn and a short time to get there https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
A lot of choices and which ones to make, don't know about you, but I do believe I am enjoying it.
bistro have not seen any post since the other night. Hope it did not flop on him.
No, his time is taken up, visiting and such. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

This is better than the Stock Market boys. I'm having fun too. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
I'm so glad I have had to wait otherwise, I would have already done it, and been kicking myself like Mosaic said.
Aaah, Queen of Hearts, you haven't heard then. Mosaic has been assimilated by Chucky. I fear the battle still rages.
Also, remember this; posted 11-22-2000 10:19 PM

I hope this doesn/t sound idiotic, but........
May I ask where I might begin if I did decide to "build my own".
....sounds like a pretty big deal.
How much saavy would I need.
I keep hearing build your own but I'm not sure how it's done, so I'm not sure whether it's even attemptable.
Ya just start with a box to put it all in and start picking the best pieces for it's guts and putting them in the right slots?
Do all the pieces come with instructions, just like when you install a sound card (or whatever)? Do CD players just plug in or do they have to be wired ?
I've put in a few pieces and I'm sure that's not all there is to it, is it ?
Would I need any special tools ?
You guys work with them all the time, but, can I do this ?
Heh, Heh https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ proof that you in fact started this, ahh, adventure if you will for us. Where did you get your tool box?
Haven't seen a sign of Train who delights in, and I have to say it again, information overload.
Read up a couple posts. After working as a trouble shooter https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Good info leads to good plans = no trouble
Now that I like!!! You have had me running the net so https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

All right greengoose. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ I also said I hoped I wouldn't look back and think "what an idiot" https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Santa found them at Best Buy. $44.95. Has a 3-Way ratcheting screwdriver, a little key ring with 9 Allen wrenches, little bitty needle nose pliers, tiny little wire strippers, bits and sockets. Oh and a pair of tweezers (they call it a IC Chip extractor https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ ) It's a kit (you know the kind where it zips up like a book and everything has it's little elastic place where it goes). The Tim Allen silohiuette. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ I...I mean Santa....found it in the very back, by the monitors and CDRw's.
Thanks Qoh for tool box info. My aren't we touchy on the origins from whence we came. Got her going now Train. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Nite all

How thick was that ice. UGHHHH Had about 2" on cobblestone streets in Berlin. Greased lightning had better traction.
Defensive did you say. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Q_O_H At least you know someone loves you https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Wife got me a simular kit in Oct. Don't remember what all is in it. Yes, we know the belt is to drive fools away.
Getting on to bed time.
Take care

Morning all, Ice melted. With this inventory, my computerese is slowed down a bit. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Train, about an inch (some black ice). I miscalculated as I thought QoH was a history buff. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
[This message has been edited by greengoose1 (edited 12-29-2000).]
greengoose, I had to reread that on the "origins from whence we came".
Was that me???....prooooove it ! https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Yes Train, I am very loved. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Still no bistro ?
Don't have to - you know, which is sufficient. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Hi all! Will have to make this quick--need to keep the phone line open. On my b-in-law's system in Cleveland. It was a definite challenge--but have upgraded this old Aptiva 166 (2gb hd, 24mb RAM) to a 400, 10gb hd, 80 RAM with new OS (98). This IBM BIOS was a real bear to work with--didn't want to cooperate; but I pulled a few tricks out of the bag and got it to quit arguing with me https://discussions.virtualdr.com/. Anyway, b-i-l is very happy with the results and I'm very tired https://discussions.virtualdr.com/. Might see all of you tonight. QoH: Glad you got the tools https://discussions.virtualdr.com/--now don't you start disassembling everything in the house with them... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/.
Will be ordering the InWin S500 case as soon as i get back to D.C. Will check it out and report back about it.
See ya (maybe) tonight. Hope ya'll had a good one.
https://discussions.virtualdr.com/Bissssstro ! Good to see ya !
Boy it sounds like you went to town on that machine ! Bet he's flying now !
These tools are just the sweetest little things. I already have the large economy size of almost all of them.
All these fancy little doo dads ....now, why couldn't they have included an eyeball for the end of my finger ? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
We are off and running ........ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Now, we know why he was in the electronics section of that store. Santa my foot.
bistro, been watching the weather channel, that stuff is almost nasty outside. I believe I said mb,cpu, ram surgery would be performed https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

WHAT ! Braille indeed ! You mean they gave me a defective one ? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ What good is a blind eyeball !?
I'm takin' these back !! https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
The "finger eyeball" was in the Deluxe Kit that came out in 1968. Rare; hard to find. I have two of them but they're in a safety deposit box in the bank...
I finally looked into the kit the wife got me. I could have used it,when I put the serial modem back in. Bet, I remember what is in it. They want $50 for the eyeball. Think I will use the brail method. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Ok I'll keep this one. Least I know I didn't get jipped. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Two bistro ! Bet those are worth some bucks !
Always did think a retractable arm was a good idea too. 'bout 9' long. So you could reach around and hold something yourself. In combination with the eyeball.....I'd be a perfect specimin. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Hmmmm...I'm not gonna say it... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
And with that note..must say goodnight. Maybe see ya tomorrow, if the Nor'Easter dowsn't hit here... Nite all.
Hey, check out some of the other posters in this forum--ya'll might have some ideas and be able to help. Gotta catch my ZZZZ's...
Oh Lord ! Bistro ! https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Take your pill!
bistro, hope that thing misses you
Q_O_H That pill is white in color, covers the ground and can be several feet thick. Tuff to swarrler https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
