SO SORRY!!! I wondered about that, but decided to assume. Thanks Kat!

The install of InnoculateIT was complete and went fine, what happened was MS's Explorer gave performed an illegal op during the first scan of my system. It stopped the InnoculateIT from completing. After I rebooted following the 3 minute timeout it was fine.
Yes, I totally removed McAfee, there were 2 items to remove, and I did it through add/remove in the CP.
Even though I put the ASUSProbe in the systray, I have since restarted and it is not there by default. I'll leave it out. It's hard because I used to look at it 20-30 times a day, it's still a habit even though I have no heat problem anymore. I liked to look at it, it gives me a smile to see temps at 105-110 on average, 120 tops... They used to be at 130-140, another source of idiopathic computer problems... But I see the wisdom and am not opposed to change.
Here's a long shot you can try. It's relatively painless so if it doesn't work, you can change back. Try turning your hardware acceleration down.
control panel
display
settings tab > advanced
performance tab
Move the slider to the left a couple notches and see if you notice any difference. Really a shot in the dark, but at this point, my guess is you would be ready to try anything, right? https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

No problem Cindy. Actually made that same assumption myself back when I first came here. Gender and # of posts doesn't matter much anyway; in my experience, I've found that there are a lot of good-hearted people here who are readily willing to give their time and share their knowledge. So much to be learned from them!
Think I will bow out at this point. You're in good hands, though https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Tried to find your error messages in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. No luck yet, that place is a giant maze sometimes.
Good luck!

I have gone to look for myself. If I should return before I get back, please keep me here.

Yes, Thank you, I am trying everything. Is it THAT obvious?
hehehe... :-)
How do I make one of those ****-eating grins?
Glad to see you are keeping a sense of humor about this. I read through this thread and I think I would be smashing the thing by now.

BTW. You can get directions for the smileys, by clicking on the "smiles legend" link right next to the box where you type your responses. Make sure to leave a space or two on either side of the smiley when you type it in. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Very Cool, thanks. I have a long fuse, but Windows is trying my patience again. I am almost ready to try Linux after this bout... See this:

The reduction of the video is a good suggestion, but remember that if you slide it more than one notch, you lose some video capability that you might need when playing games. I think it diables direct x.

cindy,
mrman is quite correct. If by some chance this clears up your internet problems, you may have to tinker with it for some other applications. I have to do this all the time for some games I have. One game wants all the acceleration it can get while another chokes on it. Pain in the butt https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Guess that's why I'm not much of a gamer anymore.

I don't play games, and neither does my husband, but just to be sure I went back and moved it one notch instead of 2. IE is still blazing. Netscape has given me a couple Illegal Ops, that's all. But I have been asleep after pulling an all-nighter in an attempt to fix it. Hubby was surfing though, said it's "fine"...
I'm holding my breath, this has happened before and usually last about "this long"...
FORGET NETSCAPE AND IE :P Use OperaQuote:

I can't seem to use IE 5.0 without ir causing the BSOD. This started recently. I did subscribe to McAfee Active Shield, that is the only thing I added recently, but I did that after the problem began. I checked for viruses and having none, sprung for the service. Since then I have tried to no avail but IE locks up within 5 minutes. Either that or it causes a Fatal Exception Error as it is loading. I have tried to "repair" it. It does no good. I also was having problems with Netscape 4.72, so I downloaded 6.0, it's slower than molasses.
Another thing that happens to IE is that sometimes it can never complete loading, it shows a blank in the address bar, the screen remains white.
Copy/Paste functions are screwy, something weird is up. Sometimes when I paste nothing shows up, but if I use BACK and Forward it shows up. This is ONLY IN BROWSERS. Both of them, mostly Netscape since I can't even get IE to function.
There's other symptoms but I am going to post this before it locks up.
Suggestions please, PLEASE??
