I'm back, but I do not see where you have run The Avenger as requested? I see a Malwarebytes log instead.
Can you please just follow what I am asking you to do, otherwise we will be running around in circles.
Sorry...I must have run it wrong...running it again

I think most of the virus is off of my machine. I have been running multiple malware scans back to back and all are coming back fine with the exception of adware.
I am having a problem with being redirected to spam sites when I click on links. I have changed the option in Firefox to warn me but it doesn't seem to be working. Please let me know what next steps to take to rid this, if any.
I believe I ran avenger as you directed me to...if not, I can rerun the programs again. I also noticed with HJT I still have some entries there that wasn't removed.
That log looks all wrong. Go back and take a look at the first Avenger log you posted and notice the difference.
====
Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE
- You must download it to and run it from your Desktop
- Physically disconnect from the internet.
- Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
- Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
- When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log to post in your next reply along with a fresh HJT log
- Re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix..
Note:
Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.
Run Combofix ONCE only!!
I had a blue screen while ComboFix was preparing the log. Is there anyway I can get back to it? I have only ran the program once.
If it BSOD'd, it probably will not have created a log. Any logs can be found in C:\qoobox
Can you run it again please. Safe mode, if necessary.
No log...running it again now.

I noticed also that the iastor.sys file is still on the C drive. Did the Avenger run correctly? It was meant to move it to a different folder. The Avenger log you posted looks nothing like it should (as I mentioned earlier) and it doesn't look to have any commands in it.
Let me know please what you actually used as a script when you ran it.
Are you still having the problems?
I apologize, I misunderstood you.
When you said copy the file I assumed I was to create a second copy so I just "ctrl+c" and then pasted "crtl+v" into the specified folder. I will correct and rerun now.Quote:
Can you please copy the following file directly to C drive please.

So far I haven't had any page rerouting or virus scanner pop-ups. The blue screen and automatic shut down has also stopped. Should I delete any programs or run any scans (malware/super-anti)?
Thank you very much for your help.
When I right click in google a page popped up that says "PCScanner2010 is detecting security risks". It's random and doesn't do it everytime.
Take a look at your last Avenger log you posted, then at the log posted here; http://discussions.virtualdr.com/sho...1&postcount=32
Can you tell me why the formatting s so different?
Do a search on your pc for the pcscanner2010 on your pc.
I did notice it looks different. I did not enter a string it it. Norton found this virus but said I would have to manually remove it:
Iastor.sys.vir
Backdoor.Tiderv.I!inf
Where does it find the file? If it is in the C:\qoobox\quarantine folder, do not worry about it, as it is in quarantine.
If your pc is running ok otherwise, let's leave it a day to make sure, then I will show you how to remove Combofix.
I have attached the Norton screen shots...
It is better if you save those to jpeg format as not everyone has MS Word :).
Ok. We will try uninstalling Combofix to see if the warnings disappear. Hurrah to Norton for finding a problem, but not letting us know where it is.
====
- Click START then RUN
- Now type [b]Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bolded text into the Run box and click OK:
ComboFix /Uninstall in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the /, it needs to be there.
Yes, it does look weird. But for some reason, I feel as if the virus is still here. Sometimes my page would go out and althought I've only ran Avenger once, it runs different..with a "blink".
ComboFix has been removed..
I attached the .jpeg images if you needed them. Norton has been a great help with this...I've had the service for about 2 months now and I update and scan daily (sometimes twice a day) and it still doesn't do anything about viruses. What was I thinking trying to be proactive??
I removed FireFox because it started acting weird. I have been using Chrome and when I try to reply and "go advanced", the scroll bar and buttons freeze. But I am able to click on the task/tool bar, but now actually in the window. So now I am using IE, but I keep getting an error message saying IE stopped working and then "close program". I click the "close program" button but IE still stays open.
By my count, The Avenger should have been run 3 times.

Please Run the ESET Online Scanner and post the ScanLog with your post for assistance.
- You will need to use Internet Explorer to complete this scan.
- You will need to temporarily Disable your current Anti-virus program.
- Be sure the option to Remove found threats is Un-checked at this time (we may have it clean what it finds at a later time), and the option to Scan unwanted applications is Checked.
- When you have completed that scan, a scanlog ought to have been created and located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt. Please post that log for us as directed below.
NOTE: If you are unable to complete the ESET scan, please try another from the list below:

Nothing found there. Might want to try the Kaspersky scanner too.
Do you have your Vista CD? You may have to do a repair install to fix the error's you are getting.
I will download Kaspersky now.....but no, I do not have a Vista CD.

Can you navigate to the C:\Users\Paige\AppData\Local\temp folder and delete everything in there.
Are you able to borrow a Vista CD from anyone? It has to be the same version as you have. Eg; Home basic, Ultimate etc.
I deleted everything except hsperfdata_Paige in the Temp folder.
I can ask around and see if someone has one that I can borrow. Do you think I should just reinstall Vista to replace what I have now? Will that get rid of the viruses? What about just upgrading to Windows 7?
What you end up doing depends really on how your PC is now.
If you are having major problems a reformat may be the way to go. If minor, a repair will probably suffice.
If you have already been considering Windows 7, now might be the time.
I have it here along with a 1Tb hard drive, but haven't found time to install it yet. Maybe tomorrow :).
Does reformat=all data erased? If that's the route that I have to take I guess it will have to be done. I performed a repair early yesterday but I guess it didn't help. I will ask around for CD's tomorrow, I am sure someone has to have one.
Well thank you so much for your help with this. I hope I didn't take any time away from you and hopefully you will get around to installing it soon. I wonder if it really is better. After ME and Vista Microsoft has me reconsidering the worth of a MAC.
Again, I really appreciate your help and assistance with this. :)
Yes. A repair leaves your files intact.
I am sure I asked you a couple of days ago not to do something I hadn't requested. How did you do a repair without a CD?
I used the pre-release Windows 7 and it is streets ahead of Vista imo.
