OK i got a little challenge now. I installed the driver and it said it installed correctly. Now, my display has changed, on the monitor. I tried to readjust the settings (assuming it went back to default after the installation and everything was HUGE on it), but what it did was changed all the colors (like 8 color format or so), the icons are still HUGE, and no more cursor. Hummm
I tried, with Alt-tab to reach the Control Panel so i can get to the display but that window does not show up (although the tab is visible in the bottom bar). Where did i go wrong??

OK . i think i know part of my problem: the window is using only about one tenth of the surface of my tablet so everything is like in the top left corner. So, the windows for the properties or the control panel are probably in a lower or right-er portion so i cannot see them. How could i reach them??? How could i even make them full screen so i can grab them?

Did you try getting to video settings via "right click the desktop, chose Properties and then the Settings tab?
I don't understand what you mean by "tablet". Could you explain please.
-
I have a graphic tablet and just as for the mouse, i was not getting any cursor so i thought they didn't work but i realise that it is like the monitor is a HUGE plasma screen tv and my screen only shows the top left corner of it, so i am struggling to access the display properties in a visible area.

I think you'll need an actual mouse to make this work. You could try booting to safe mode and see if you can change settings in there. Also check under Advanced in Settings, make sure your video card is being seen.
-
OK, trying different things here>
Working in safe mode, i can see the whole display as it is supposed to, but i cannot save the settings.
IN the task bar, i can STILL see the old video graphic card. Well, it gives me an option to change the resolution, but i still have only very few colors (possibly only 8) and the icons disappeared. And right clicking on the desktop does NOT let the properties window appear to change it.
Trying to undo the installation of the new driver, but in the control panel, even clicking on the add/remove program, the window does not come up to uninstall anything.
HELPPP!!!

"Also check under Advanced in Settings, make sure your video card is being seen. "
IN where? in the BIOS?
Please, give me very precise instructions, because i really feel that i am messing things up if i am left on my own! :(

Advanced settings under desktop properties, and the Settings tab. Below in the window is an Advanced button. Click on that and see if it's showing your new video card or your old one. You should be able to change that there. I am not using XP so I can't really tell you where this change button is.
Go into device manager and remove your old video card also.

I can see the icons on the taskbar, but the actual windows do not display. I can't see anything to click on.ight-clicking the desktop and clicking properties, will not give the window to change ANYTHING and that is my problem right now.
Any way to save settings from the safe mode? I can try to access the device manager or add/remove program in safe mode, but i am not sure if it can actually perform those actions in that mode.

Worst comes to worst, i had an automatic backup made with Acronis just yesterday. What file(s) would need to be reinstalled/replaced if needed? I am desparate!!! :(
-
Good news. Hubby went in safe mode and checked for the Intel graphic card. Somehow, it needed to be removed TWICE as it would reappear. Now, however, i get the popup message that there is a new device on my computer and it needs to be installed. That is the OLD card that it wants to install. I have to cancel that all the time. Any way to stop that? I can live with it, but it is annoying.
Anyhow, now the display is fine, resolution is fine, working fine for now. I will try the video programs later on to see how better it is than with the basic i had initially.

Go into Device Manager, find the old intel graphics card, right click and chose Disable. That should stop the message.
-
Strangely, it is not listed in the device manager.

In the display adapters, i see
- mirage driver (no idea what that is)
- NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS (the new one i installed today)
- Video Controler (and this one has an exclamation point on the icon)
Nohing that looks like Intel.

The one with the exclamation point is the Intel. Disable it and you shouldn't get any more messages. Windows is looking to install the driver for that exclamation pointed hardware.
