Are my troubles as bad as i think?

Did you change the jumper switch on the back of the HD when you hooked it up as slave and thus change it back to master when you hook it back up in your old system ?

no... i didnt move any switches... ever... i didnt know i needed to... but the hard drive worked fine on the xp machine... should i look for it? where is it located?

After changing the CD to be the first boot device did you exit saving your settings ?

It sounds like it's still trying to boot off the HD which is now empty after FDISK from what I can gather.

This means that it's not reading the Hard drive although if you have now used FDISK you won't hav anything on the HD.

Yes i did.

Are you still able to see the contents of the CD when you boot with a floppy ?
In fact, im only able to see them if i boot with i floppy y downloaded from bootdisc.com

Its a Presario 7469... i think they do... and i supposed i had deleted it too.. bot even though i thought i deleted all the partitions and all the messages said i did it, when i reboot it still finds a D: and in it there are directories very similar to those on the cd... (which i can access but not run)
So.. either i Fdisked it wrong or my computer has gone insane and still remembers things i supposedly deleted... :s this is so very confusing...
