Yea, medication might be called for Train. Maybe Bistro could share some of those no-name brand butts I've seen mention of...
Perhaps this is just one of those parallel universe, or ying and yang, things. You guys come in, say what needs to be said, short and to the point. I on the other hand come around, ramble forever, fill the server's disk up, and confuse the crap out of everyone.
Now if one was really clever, they would put up Counterfeit threads and just hrough a bogus post in once a day. I would see them, start posting, and it would be december before I realize I was the only one really participating. By that time anyone who might want to build a system will have been done.

DrMDJ, I surf other forums even though this is my home forum. I have seen references to what we do and links to a specific subject that we have dealt with. We seem to be filling a gap or void of some kind. Train told me about The Newsletter reviews and that they provide a link to us.
This started back in the days of Operation Delta and you and every other person that has participated can be proud of what is being done.
And another point is that we have the beginnings of teamwork, teamwork from around the world. Without computers and the net, without Internet.com, and Virtual Dr.com we would not be able to do what we are doing today.

Reading through this thread I have nothing to add in reguards to cases, however, a comment for WG34....I don't think you will be able to use all 6 pci slots and the ISA slot at the same time. The last PCI and the first ISA usually share a common case slot.

I just finished reading this thread and wanted to say thank you... I have been reading for a long time but just recently joined and have even posted a few times and been able to provide some input. I am looking into begining my very own first build, and this place is a godsend. Some is ok and some is way over my head but I take in what I can and get help with the rest. I do agree that there are probably alot of people just reading but I am not sure you realize the amount of advise, knowledge and education that goes into these threads, along with the amount that is obtained from them.. I guess I will quit flapping my gums and just get to the point. Although sometimes it may seem as if you are talking to yourselves... It's good to know that people are reading and, hopefully, getting something usefull. And as has been said, everyone's opinions and questions are encouraged. The more the merrier. And as for stuff that might be over one's head... That's going to happen. But I would hope that people understand that they can chime in anytime and say they don't understand something, want clarification on something, ask for an explanation, or simply ask for info/links on where they might learn more on their own. If the general level of this or a particular thread seems to be going at too high a level, then people should speak up. Also, if the direction things are going in isn't what people want or need they should say so.
Remember: there are no dump questions or statements around here, except for those about Emachines.

I meant to address something you brought up a while back: case modding. I for one don't think that is appropriate here. For the average person, with the average system, there is no need (IMHO) to mod the case, nor will the case need modding. Oh sure, one might want to carpet their case, as in Bistro's example. But seriously, most of the mods needed to cases are not appropriate or needed by the new/basic builder. Actually, a lot of mods are just "fluff".
As for particular case preferences... As I said in one of my earlier ramblings, there are many good cases avalaible. I admit I tend to be an Inwin bigot, but have used others as well. If any case is found to meet certain fundimental criteria, it is perfectly acceptable. A more appropriate question might be "are there any cases/models that people would recommend others stay away from from for some tangible/specific reason?". I can't think of any right off the top of my head, as I always choose the perfect case.;}

Case modding only in the context of planning for this thread. As in extra fan, something like that.
I asked for favorites on cases which would rule out bad ones pretty much and we would find out the ones that were popular. This way it would give the beginning builder less to contend with maybe.

If you are just noticing that, relax, I have been seeing that sort of thing since I have been on vdr. It just gets a little worst while they are archieving. Will get better after they get done.
