Intresting, I know what the everything does on the picture but what is the Ultra ATA 100/RAID connectors for? I have never seen those on the motherboards that I have looked at.
ATA100 harddrives go here, up to four. With the Raid setup [ATA100} you can have 4
ide devices and On the ATA100 4 harddrives.
For normal use cdrom and cd-rw and a ATA100 harddrive all can be set for master on their own channel. So, no compatability problems.

Oh NOW have a folder in C/Windows/Options/ Cabs. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ It was NOT there before. The Windows Update IE 5.01 and sp1 must have put it there.
Train, you remember that Receipt tab in OE ? What was it that made it be there? I thought it was sp1 but I still don't have that in OE.
QoH, just wondering how many tweaks you have put in on MB so far since you brought him up.

I have the Cabs folder. Bunch of entries in it.

Soon , we should be seeing a document appear with a listing of all hacks, the who, what, when, where and why of each. With appropriate, valid links for each.
It may look like a novel, but will be a document. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Train, Knowing her highness, I can't wait. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Slightly off topic. Need some info on file types concerning CD-ROM. What is the info in your system for CD Audio Track and if you have it what does Audio CD show, including the info that comes up when you click on edit? Whenever I reboot and Real Player is installed it overrides the open with "CD-ROM" and makes itself the open with. Then no CD-ROM and no music. And my PC does not recognize the Real Player file. If I reinstall from disk everything is fine until I add Real Player. I believe this type of conflict affects and causes many of the questions asked concerning CD-ROM's.

Oh.......just a couple, greengoose https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Well Train, I ran the repair tool and still no Receipt tab. Not a big deal, I just thought it was supposed to appear after that sp1 dealy. I don't really have any need for it...just curious as to why it's still missing. Everything else is doing so good, I'm not reinstalling just to get that.

Try this but change the picture stuff to sound.
Try this. Open Windows Explorer. Browse/Scroll around until you find a .BMP file. Hold down the [Shift] key while you right-click that filename and select Open With. Now select the program that you want Windows [mspaint] to use to open this type of file and then place a checkmark next to "Always use this program to open this type of file". That's it, click OK. (Hope that all makes sense). And I agree with you on the sound playing problems.

How does one explain how windows does anything??? I know I can not!
bistro is probably helping his next door party build a computer, or is at his type of flea market.

thanks, that anwsered my question. do you think that the extra bux are worth it for the Error Correction?
also, i noticed that they sell a Slot 1 mobo like the Abit up ^ there. why did you (greengoose1) choose a socket 370 over slot 1?
[This message has been edited by viper0070 (edited 02-24-2001).]
ME !! I have ASUS A7V and Duron is cheaper than Intel. And do what I want faster. Will see about a answer for you.

bistro:
Ok...looked around a bit and I have a couple of recommendations for mobo/CPU--will give you avg. prices too. Both are Intel-based mobos. One takes a 370 Socket CPU, the other takes a Slot 1 type. (Now don't freak out, I'll keep this simple...). 370 socket CPU's have been around for a long time--the chip is designed to lay flat, inserted into a socket on the mobo that looks like a Saltine cracker with a big hole in the middle--edges full of small pinholes--is that graphic enough? . Then Intel had an idea to put their chips into a black casing, which in turn is inserted upright into a slot on a mobo that looks much like the slot your vid card is inserted into (Slot 1 type). Both are still being made. Heard a rumor that Intel was possibly considering discontinuing the Slot 1 type and making all their chips 370's. Remains to be seen. Anyway, one of these mobos is Socket 370, the other is a Slot 1 type. Both are excellent and won't be "obsolete" for quite a while. You simply match the mobo with the correct type Pentium (or Celeron). (prices given are average)
1. Motherboard: Abit BX 133-RAID; considered one of, if not the best, mobo of the year.
QofH:
For only 5 bucks difference in the motherboards I'd almost have to go
with the Abit, since it is the 370 Socket. Even if it is just a rumor.
