One more thing:
When I boot with a 95 boot disk, the first thing I get is:
Starting Windows 95...
The compression drive cannot be set up correctly.
Get a version from your vendor that is compatable with this version of Windows.
Press any key to continue...
---After I hit a key I get:
The following is missing or corrupted: COMMAND.COM
Type the name of command interpreter (e.g., C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM)
There is an error in your config.sys file on line 13
Then I type in C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM
and then I get:
Microsoft (r) Windows 95
(C)Copywrite Microsoft Corp 1981-1996
Then an A:\>

Hey Rick,,,
Happy 19100 !
Well I'll tell you one thing...you know how to put those little smiley faces in your post and I don't!
Don't know about doing a complete backup and installing it on another hard drive! If you're talking about your restore disk...forget it ..won't work...
My best advice right now is to keep looking around for a copy of Win95....check book stores ,used computer stores and small repair shops...you may be able to have it installed at a small shop for a small fee...
Let me know....
Good Luck,
Dave
P.S. Reading back to your original post...it seems that you did try using the restore disk from your other machine already...when it's looking for version 7.00 that's Win98 version...Best bet is to just drop a few more bucks in it...let your fingers do the walking for the best price...buy a new joystick and take it to be reformatted and Windows 95 re-installed, and get the joystick loaded also...Remember that was originally what you were trying to do...

If you have win98, you can load it and then immediately remove IE and most of the "junk" and have the win95 shell installed for a sleek set-up.
There is a free program called RomII which does exactly the above. Its available for download here:
ROM II
Rom II is supported on this BBS: HOST Club
