I have a tri-boot system(Win 98se,Win 2K pro and Linux Mandrake 8.1)and find that I use Win 2K almost exclusively. I leave it running 24/7-set to hibernate after 45 min. It's nice to have a desktop in 8 seconds each morning. There are some programs that I use Win 98se for and if I've got a lot of time to kill, I'll mess with Linux.(I've found that what you do with Linux is try to fix it all the time) Win 2K is a little touchy, I have problems with USB devices not working sometimes, but otherwise it's an excellent operating system. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

I too had problems with my CD burner. Win 2k has issues with 'em. I TOO had no luck with Roxio - wouldn't even start up! Switched to Nero and it all works great. Of course if I was going to do a lot of CD writing I would reboot to XP - never had any problems with XP!

Running W2K mainly for 2 reasons: 1) Stability and 2) Multiprocessor support...it's no fun using dual processors without being able to utilize both of them.. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
Always in dual boot conf. w/ Win98 as "lifesaver". System partition is always FAT32 to be able to access this partition from within Win98 in case something screws up.
I never experienced trouble like not being able to run Win98 anymore - DOS-boot + SYS C: has always given me access directly to Win98 - did you do something "special" during installation of W2K...? C: = Win98 and W2K somewhere else (seperate partition, seperate drive..?) , right?

Rock stable, and that's about all the reason I need! 98SE would crash regularly on me (yeah, big news!) but after running 2kPro at work for several months without having to reboot, I decided it was the way to go at home too. I do lots of graphics work (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, QuarkXpress, etc.) and it runs great. I even seem to be able to burn at 16x using the latest version of Roxio on a Goldstar CD-RW drive I paid $80 for! No coasters either!

OK, the verdict appears to be in, and it looks like you should just go on up to Window 2000.
It is by far much faster, and better than Win98 ever could hope to be. Take the plunge now, and you will not be sorry one iota.
Solid, reliable, fast, non-invasive, is there anything else you will need from a good OS??
