DR Watson

I know this is boring but to save a Word document you can hit File | Save, or hit the little disk icon or even hit <CTRL> <S> while you type. What I'm trying to say, in a subtle way, is save regularly and there's no way you'll lose a 33 page document!

There is mention of something similar in microsoft knowledge base pages. It says that a problem with dr watson causing high cpu utilization was fixed in SP4.

I saved al the work but what happend was that the saved work also broke down,(how can I describe it) the work that was already saved and which I thought I only lost 10 minutes of work was not to be repaired anymore,It looked kind like the sqaures in <symbol> WingDings.

Also I deleted the normal.dot but when I tried to shutdown Word the system does not permits me to save (changes) in the normal.dot, after a coule of times trying(with a little luck) It works.
the Dr Watson problem still occurs on Machines with even SP6.

How Much Memory Usage is normal for Word?

I also get a Windows NT error code.
it is code 80 and then a code 5,
what does this mean?

Mentioning .DOCs and funny little squares reminds me of something... I know someone who kept saving regularly, but when they came to loading the document up the next day, it was garbage. Why? They had been saving their work as a TEMPLATE (with .DOT extension). Check how you're saving your files.

I checked but that isn't the problem.
Could the interface of the machine on the network show his bugs in Word (or other program wich is running at the momemt)
If so how can you check if the machine config is correct and if his place in the Network is good.....Uhhhhh know what I Mean

Before you deleted normal.dot I hope Word and all word files were closed. Otherwise it cannot be deleted

DEAR FRIEND, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE DR. WATSON PROBLEM AND WE HAVE SOLVED IT REINSTALLING THE WINDOWS NT VER 4.0 IN THE MACHINE AND ALSO CREATING A NEW USER.

what was the scenario that you had experienced?. We have an NT4 server that is doing something similar to 'mr.blues' problem but without word on it and I would hate to have to recreate it from scratch!. In our case DrWatson seems to start up in the background intermittantly and the only way to get rid of it then is to switch off the computer (shutdown wont work).

The problem with Dr Watson (for me)
is that it isn't clear how or why the problems occurs. There are some important factors which are the cause of this error.
Is it an hardware or software problem.

can an mailfunction cause so much error to a program which is running
"smoothly" en the most frustrating is the fact that you can actually see the work I made but cannot move or print it.

(I think the recovery option doesn't work ether, It only saves my work sometimes)

Hi MarkhP, can't you give it an end task.
I find out that in the Task Manager If DR WAtson occurs on the background the only option is to end task the DR Watson program.
but the problem is the queue in wich you see the programs running, (dond't ask how, but it works)
