Changing the driver to the Generic VGA driver first might be needed.
Maybe in Programs and Features, uninstall it.
I cannot figure out how to change the driver to a generic VGA driver. The instructions I looked up to do this don't appear on the computer as instructed by the site.
Post the link to the site that had the instructions, and be specific about what you were not able to do.
Also, Try these links:
http://support.microsoft.com/KB/268852
http://www.playtool.com/pages/uninst...uninstall.html
I used the "playtool.com" link and when I got to the "adapter" tab step and clicked on it I don't get a "change" tab. There is a "properties" tab.
Double-click the problematic device to bring up the Properties window.
Click the Driver tab.
Click the uninstall Driver button.
A dialog box will ask you to confirm your decision to roll back to a previous driver. Click Yes to begin the roll-back process.
Should look like this
Attachment 12763
When I do double click on the video device and click on the drivers tab and then click on the uninstall tab I get "no drivers have been backed up for this device". If I use the "playtool.com" link and when I got to the "adapter" tab step and clicked on it I don't get a "change" tab. There is a "properties" tab. So if I click on the "properties" tab and go to the "uninstall" tab I get the same message "no drivers have been backed up for this device".
I am now lost at what to do other than a clean install. Hope ome one can help out.
Thanks for trying! I'll consider a 5450 card.
Or newer would be good also.
Thanks. I will check them out!
Have you tried changeing the video driver in Safe Mode?
This is interesting. I went to My computer-view system information-system properties-hardware-device manager-display adapters-clicked on ati radeon hd 3600 series-right clicked the uninstall driver tab-got the warning, you are about to uninstall the device from your system-clicked okay-you must restart to finish removing your hardware-after restarting I got the found new hardware video controller (vga compatible)-then found new hardware ati 3600. Then I started the program Wavelab 4 and it worked. The video or sound did not stop. I ran three more songs (files) just to be sure and they all worked. I closed the program, reopened it and played more songs(files) and they worked. I closed the program and turned the computer off then restarted the computer. I opened the program wavelab 4 and played a song. The same problem happened. The video stopped and then the sound stopped. I turned off the computer and went through the procedure again and it worked. So I turned the computer off and then on again. Ran the program again and it had the same problem. So I can get it to work if I go through the above procedure.
That almost sounds like WaveLab 4 is altering or corrupting the driver settings.
Getting support for WaveLab 4 from Steiberg's site is not possible since they are up to version 7 or 8 and don't care about older versions. But at least I know I can get it to work!
