1) It doesn't matter where you move your data. You just need to clear space so that you can shrink the partition. Only 21GB? You said your backups were 200GB in the other thread. How do you only have 21GB of data?
2) You can't shrink the partition if it is filled with files. That's why I said you need to move data to another drive first. A partition is a container. If the container is full, how can you shrink it?
I'll explain this as good as I can but Happy New Year first. I have used the "send to" and moved--(or is this really moved?)-- to my external hard drive and these are those I do not want to lose in my trial at partition resizing. These files are about 251 gigs in size and this action should hopefully allow me to partition, if this will decrease the size of the partition as it now shows. And BTW, I deleted those backups that I could not open, could not see;etc. I felt that they were just occuping space that is needed. AND, I looked at the Easus partitioning ap and it is just as much greek as the rest of this.
"Send To" does a copy, not a MOVE. You need to remove the files from your C: drive before you shrink it. How full is your C: drive now?
Once you remove the files from C:, you could make an Acronis backup just in case something happens during repartitioning. That backup should be significantly smaller than your previous 200GB+ backups.
Easeus is one of the easier repartitioning tools to use. Just choose the C: drive, then click Resize/Move. Use the slider bar or type in the desired partition size into "Partition Size". Click OK. Click Apply. Click Yes. Click Yes again to reboot the system.
Ready to proceed Coach because I now have just 30GB left on the C: drive. An additional 190+GBs have been moved to an exteranl hd until such time it is okay to move them back to the C: I use my desktop shortcuts a great deal of the time when working on my PC. Of course, I don't have easy access to the desktop since I moved it to the external hd. I also don't have ready access to the Easeus partitoning ap so now I'm asking for any help you can give me so I proceed to put this bugger back in good. shape.

If you haven't downloaded and installed Easeus Partition Master Home Edition, download it here and then install it. Once that's done, click Start > All Programs > EaseUS Partition Master 9.2.1 Home Edition > EaseUS Partition Master 9.2.1 Home Edition.
??? What does that mean? I said to move the DATA. I don't see why you touched the desktop shortcuts. Something is wrong if you can't get to the Start menu.Quote:

I really had so reason to move the destop except I was trying to reduce the size of C:. Can't I just return the desktop to its the desktop. And I never said that I can't access the start button; it has not moved. Or can't I simply reinstall Easeus Partition ap and save it to the almost barren desktop?

Thought my eyes were fooling me for a few minutes. I was seeing and using my desktop icons; etc for a while and then discovered that was happening because my external hd was still connected to the computer. Removed the hd and I had no desktop then.

A very straight forward answer Doc; one that even I totally understand. Thanks for standing by. I may get things right in time. Now if I could only get my desktop back to where it was before I butchered it. I have looked and tried every thing I could find.
