"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage google.com" :(
Follow my little guide that I knocked up here (in PDF form):
Setting a Static IP address
Use:
192.168.1.105 for the IP address
255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask
192.168.1.1 for the Default Gateway
For DNS Servers, I like OpenDNS:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
or you can use Google:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
I'm baffled as to how your settings ended up as they did, but I think setting static addys will fix things.
Still no luck. Blue circley thingy just spins and spins "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage www.google.com
What's the results from an "ipconfig /all"?
Did you try disabling IPv6?

Did you try disabling Teredo Tunneling?

I know the links for for Vista, but it should be basically the same for Win7. Try disabling IPv6 first, then test it out. If it still doesn't work, then try disabling the Teredo.

The DNS Servers are still messed up. Can you change them manually to the ones SS suggessted?
Hi JDC,
I did this:
Use:
192.168.1.105 for the IP address
255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask
192.168.1.1 for the Default Gateway
For DNS Servers, I like OpenDNS:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
or you can use Google:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
& then I wasn't sure if I was supposed to do this part:
For DNS Servers, I like OpenDNS:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
so I backed that out. I couldn't get pages to open either way. Am I supposed to do the part for DNS Servers? I'm really lost when it comes to anything to do with networks.
Thanks for all the help everyone :)
Yes, you must manually enter something for DNS servers if you are setting a static IP address. You can add as many as you like, use all four of those addresses if you like, and Windows will then use the first one unless it gets a problem, in which case it will start working down the list until it finds a server that works.
Hi Nick,
Still getting the IE can't display page. ARGH!
OK, I think you really do need to try what Midknyte suggested above, and disable IPv6 support, at least on a temporary basis. If that doesn't help, try disabling the Teredo tunnelling as well. Let's see what that does.
I totally missed his reply! I'll give that a whirl right now.
You know, I brag about how wonderful this site is (and my hubby for walking me through the last scary process) all the time to friends and family, and once again you guys have proved me right with how great you are.
Thanks so much! The last thing that worked was disabling Teredo Tunneling (whiskey tango foxtrot!) which was making my knees knock to tell the truth!
Thank you all again, I really appreciate the help.
Have a great weekend! :D
Cool. Glad it worked. :D
Excellent :)
You won't need to worry about the Teredo Tunnelling being disabled, it is a transitional technology to assist in accessing IPv6 websites, which are rarer than hen's teeth, and likely to remain so for some time. If you are really interested in what it is, you can read about it here:
