then run Process Explorer, whioch should give you even more detail about what is hogging the CPU cycles. It doesn't need to be installed, just double-click the "procexp.exe" file.

Have 2 iexplore.exe and 1 is using 31000 k's
MsMpEng is using 57000
svhost is using 60000
If IE is open, there will be 2 listed. If it is closed and still listed, then use task manager to to shut it shut it down.

That was svchost and there are 9 there
Normal and I have 12 running.
Now, in Process explore mouse over each svchost and a popup will show you what services each is running. Or you can double click the line abd when the applet shows up, select the services tab and you now have a list of them.
Single click each line and below the services box you will see a description for service.
