I use Malwarebytes free programme and they keep prompting me to buy the full programme. Is it worth it or should I just stick with what I've got?

What other protection are you running?Quote:

I have Sunbelt Vipre Premium AV and Firewall, and Trusteer ( suggested by my bank)
Do you need an additional real-time scanner beyond what you already have (paid MBAM also can automate scheduled scans and updates.) IMO, probably not. MBAM's biggest strength is the manual scanner and cleanup that it provides. While they have been working on improving the real-time scanner, it's not the best part of their product (IMO.) That said, I would certainly scan with it regularly to see if you have anything unwanted in your system.
In my case, I have purchased MBAM but only because I wanted to support the developers. I do not run it in real-time.
FYI...
I was not familiar with Rapport (by Trusteer) before seeing your post. Interesting approach to banking security. Beyond what is published about what Rapport does, I can't find much on how it affects the computer it's been installed on. Did you notice any change in your computer's speed when you began running Rapport??
No, it doesn't slow down the computer although reports I have seen suggest that other users have problems with it. It seems to work very well, in fact, when I enter a password into a site, it immediately pops up a window to warn me that I entered this password into another site, and I have the choice of accepting or rejectng. It also provides me with a weekly report to see if there were any problems. For a free programme it's quite impressive.
I have not tried to read all the posts here so maybe this has already been mentioned. Have you considered Microsoft Security Essentials? It is free and seems to do a pretty good job. It also has a small footprint.
No I haven't. Does it do the same job as MBAM?
hansi: Microsoft Security Essentials is an antivirus, so no, its different than MBAM. You should be covered in that area by Vipre. I believe that Jim is referring back to the original poster's question...
Yes, my post should have been directed to jim2112.
