Thanks I will give that one a try.
I think I got it UBCD to copy to a cd. Where do I go to change the boot up to boot from cd drive? I know in the BIOS (I think) but how do I get there? Thanks.
It depends. I don't see where you mentioned the make/model of your system. Dells are usually F2, but others would be F1 or F10 or del.
Sorry, I have a Westinghouse Laptop. And do I do this at bootup?
I found the bios actually it is enter on this laptop and I set it to boot from the cd but it booted normally. I can see the program on the cd, but it will not boot from that drive. I have tried it 3 times and it boots normally each time.
Are you sure you burned the iso as an IMAGE? If you burn it as a data file, it won't boot.
Well I thought I burned it as an image but will re-burn one tomorrow to be sure. Also, was I supposed to have let the .exe setup on the PC before I burned it? I did that before burning. Sorry to be such a pest.
What .exe? Did you download the iso from the link in my signature or not? The link I have goes to the UBCD5 Beta and there is only .iso as an option. You are supposed to download the .iso file and burn that as an image.
If you downloaded from the old UBCD page, there is a SELF EXTRACTING .EXE file. You would need to extract the .iso from the .exe and burn the iso as an image.
I have tried it both ways, the old UBCD and the Beta link, my laptop will not boot from the cd. The BIOS is set to boot from CD, but it boots normally. I burned as an image the last time to be sure and it will not boot.
That is really strange, if you burned the disc correctly. Did you try any other bootable discs like the WinXP install disc? If it can't even boot off of that, then maybe the optical drive is bad.
No I have not tried another disk but will tomorrow. It could just be I did not burn the disk correctly. Thanks.
