Not really Broni ......... way back when I finally broke down and bought a copy of XP ( I actually hate't it , click restart .... go have dinner and a shower come back and it's still saving settings :-(( , windows 95 was my favorite restart , back up and running in 20 seconds ) But installing new hardware and programs , I used to try the restore feature , if there was driver issues or instilation problems , but after having 4 or 5 restore points and none of them would work , I finally decided to just keep it off and cut down on the restart times.
Don't know what I'm going to do when vista becomes mandatory , tried an evaluation copy of that for a week , didn't like how it took control of my computer with out the options to turn off everything that pissed me off.

On properly working computer, system restore should work.
Not, that it's some kind of miracle tool. It may solve SOME problems, though.
However, I have another option for you...
I recommend, you use Erunt: http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/
Manual: http://pcug.org.au/boesen/ERUNT/ERUNT.htm
In my opinion, it's better, then System Restore, and I use it on all my Windows versions.
Skip Vista, go to Windows 7.
Due out in Oct.
