the monitor and the card. one is a single link. the other is a dual link.
and that's the problem i guess.

monitor has single-link connection. graphics card has dual-link connection.
so .. i wonder if i should even bother looking for a cable or interface between these .. or just continue to use the vga connection?
A single-link cable should plug into both ends, and will work fine. You only need dual-link for 30" monitors, anything below that and single link is what's used.
