[RESOLVED] Removing an icon from the taskbar.

Hi all,

You people have been so extremely helpful and courteous, I almost feel guilty about having posted this little nuisance problem. :o Anyway, to answer Tufenuf, no . . . it is not in the startup folder, and it is not a shortcut (at least from all that I can determine). But, to SpywareDR, I have just downloaded Trayit! After I finish reading whatever documentation is available, I will run it and let all of you what the outcome was.

I have given the name of this site to at LEAST 20 of my friends. Problem is, they are just as uninformed as I am. You may just get overwhelmed with other silly issues just as mine. :)

Don't worry about that, there is no such thing as a silly issue, or a silly question, on this site :)

I want you to read a message that I posted on Spyware Warriors today. Perhaps I should have checked with you before I did it, but the service, the expertise, and the quality of people on this site, made it a no-brainer for me. I simply cannot state just how happy I am with Virtual Doctor! In my humble opinion, Virtual Doctor takes "FIRST-PLACE" amoung all of the internet services.

For a very, very, long time now, Spyware Warrior has been at the utmost top of my “daily chore list” as a “must-read” theme of the day. The people at Spyware Warrior are, without question, the very best of the best. But, for those of you among us whom have issues that are NOT malware (spyware) related, may I suggest the following:

Virtual Doctor (virtualdr.com) has a staff of experts who are every bit as qualified as the experts on this site. The people there are friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and extremely anxious to help! I have personally posted numerous problems (questions) there, and they are ALWAYS only too willing to help. Let me add a quote here:

There is no such thing as a silly issue, or a silly question, on this site!

Trust me friends . . . Virtual Doctor rocks! Give them a try!

Geopla--Thanks for the screen shots. That is a lot of space. It looks like a running program, which of course it is.
I have a suspicion that you have not created a QuickLaunch area on your Taskbar. (right click on a blank spot|Toolbars) But that is not going to help the problem. It will just move the MJ button to the right.
If TrayIt works there is an outside chance you can hide the icon by right click on Taskbar|Properties|Customize and change the status to "Always Hide". But I see TrayIt offers its own idea under " Hide application Icon ".

Been reading about MagicJack. Interesting device/program! I did stumble across this article should you want to uninstall it http://digital-nomads.blogspot.com/2...-software.html Apparently, the program has no uninstaller...

Geopla: If you decide to try TrayIt, be sure the one you are using is version 4.6.5.x. There is an older version there at http://www.teamcti.com/trayit/trayit.htm but the newer one has several new, useful features...

Trayit! did the job. One simple click and the MagicJack icon is now in the taskbar next to my clock (where it should be).

Geopla--Did you now try to hide it? (Or maybe you do not want to.) TrayIt's home page seems to say it can hide these icons. And I made a never-tried suggestion in a post above.

Sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier. Yes, I did try to right-click on the taskbar, I chose properties, customize, and then “always-hide” the icon. It simply refused to go away. But, using Trayit, I intentionally chose to “place the icon in the tray” and now it is where it belongs. The screen shot attached shows where the icon is now. The MagicJack icon is the first icon on the left.
