Hi, I came back here recently looking for the old friendships and comradre that once made this a great forum, Dr Bob you are just late to the party. I remember many great members who offered forum changes as positive suggestions, ironically many of these changes were later implemented, unfortunately most of the greats that proposed them have moved on. Dr Bob I apologize on behalf of all those members for failing you, your suggestion may, or may not merit consideration , however I see NO reason for the response that you have received.There still seems to be a "club" atmosphere around here, and god help them, it is rather an ignorant and poorly informed one.

For the second - and I hope, final - time, I was pointing out that DB try to be a little more polite and less abrasive in how he talks to other members. These are taken from the last 30 threads of the Lounge. A rather large percentage of computer related subjects, if you ask me. So why add a new computer related, off topic forum if we already have one? The off-topic forum was meant for a place to chat about anything (within limits), as opposed to the other forums which are meant for questions, answers and discussions.
Perhaps a change of the wording would clear things up:

To tell the truth....I am not a big fan of subforums or even creating new parent forums for narrow areas of interest. I have seen forums that do that and you could start scrolling at lunch and be ready for dinner by the time you get to the bottom. I am always looking at combining forums where I am invloved in such matters. Scrolling aside....I have found that departmentalizing too much lessens member interaction. It's like having a party in a really big house. People start to hang out in particular rooms and don't interact as much. But have a party in a small house where people have to "bump" into one another more...you get more discussion. ;)

It would be good to get some more opinions on what folks think of the currrent forum line up. Do we have too many, not enough, or are we about right?
Two more rules of party planning....
Invite more women than men....and purposely not have enough seating so that people are forced to mingle. Just adding those tips for those planning their next blowout.... :D
Regarding the current forum line-up....I haven't really studied it much, but my rule of thumb is 'less is best' for the mingling factor alone...unless the bunching causes confusion.
