I found that embarrassing as I'm sure the person serving me thought I was over my limit.
It's insane that you had to PAY for calls! No 800 numbers? (or whatever you guys across the pond use :o ;) )Quote:
I phoned my card company on their 10p a minute line and was on the phone for 15 mins before it was sorted. i then phoned the people I bought the TV from and the payment went through 30 mins later. I then had to phone the delivery company on their premium phone number to ensure my delivery for friday was OK.
Seems to me your credit card co. should've called you before they denied the sale. It does seem a bit extreme. In my case, the two charges on mine were from "known" crooked companies, though the total charges were only around $200.00 One co. was from Texas, and another one for some kind of computer stuff from a company I've never heard of. Both were suspicious, and they should've called me before allowing the charges.Quote:
At the end of the day the card company are protecting themselves, because if the card was used fraudulently then it's not my problem, as long as I didn't do anything stupid.
As one who rarely carries cash, I'd be in trouble if my card was refused at the gas station. Guess they'd have to take a check?

They do that to protect us supposedly. But more than once I've had my card frozen due to purchases that I made. I have to call them because soon I'll be using it in northern England and Scotland, and I don't want them freezing it while I'm in a foreign country with no money
At last a couple of people who see my side. I do feel that too many people accept rubbish from some of these companies. Sometimes you have to stand your corner and fight. I usually ask and get compensation when a bank or credit card co cause me grief, didn't work this time though :(
