It's the version of the TZE.exe file that matters. Not the version of Windows 98.
If you have the right TZE.exe version, then you should be good to go (which is version 1.0.1.0) To figure that out, right click the TZE.exe file you have and chose Properties. Then click the Version tab at the top.
I have attached another screenie of the correct version for Win 95, 98 and ME.
(FWIW, the correct TZE.exe version for Windows NT, 2000, 2003 and XP is 5.0.1774.1.)

I never looked at any other time zones than yours and mine but I would assume that moving from standard time to daylight savings time is always a +1 hour bias??

I'm not there yet, i can handle those vcr's they don't put the fear in me these little monsters do, i'm inching baby steps there. That btmp image you attached or jpeg, showing the interface of the editor, all i have to do is enter those items in there and reboot? No other entries editing the registry, i guess you said it did it? I just have to open the Tzedit.exe and that's what i'm going to see?

I'm leaving my alarm clock and DVD player alone. If I change those this weekend, I have to change them AGAIN in three weeks when they jump ahead to old DST. For three weeks I can live with it.Quote:

First, I'd recommend printing the CST jpg screenie I posted. That way, you won't have to remember what it showed or click back and forth between it and the TZ Editor.Quote:

In the drop down i looked at "quickview" instead of opening the exe just out of curiosity, , i should have known better, but i am attaching a file below as to what the system information was, contrary to what it says under system tools . Mybe this doesn't work?

No, you definitely have the right file and the right version. You are good to go. You know what curiosity did to the cat right? ;)
As for 3 weeks... Before this year, the old daylight savings time adjustment in the US came on the first Sunday in April. This year, it's 3 weeks early (thanks to Congress!) Older items that recognized daylight savings time (VCRs and the like) will not change on the correct date this year. And for nearly all of those older items, there will never be a way to fix the problem...
