That issue was also discussed in the interview....
Apparently the producers felt the appearance issue wasn't worth delving into beyond the short exchange in the bar where the DS9 people don't even recognize the 'early' Klingons.....except for Worf, who does. When asked if it was a genetic experiment or something....he says it is a Klingon issue that "they don't discuss"....
I personally would like to have seen that issue explained better since I watched the TOS and all the new ones, plus the movies....and the Klingons were the only race that changed in appearance so drastically from the TOS.
The first Star Trek movie sorta put everyone that followed in jam....since it was first done there that the Klingons went from normal looking people with bushy eyebrows maybe....to massive bumpy skulled creatures. They had to go with it from there on.......

Thinking about it, if they had explained it as a massive genetic experiment to enhance the warrior aspects of the race that went awry, I would have accepted that with little problem.
Actually....if they had explained it as the result of drinking the water in Juarez, Mexico, I would have accepted that with little problem too.

Actually....I know a another tech support forum where a similar transformation will take place if you stay there too long. ;) :p :D
Personally...I prefer the old Klingon race. Some sinister-looking facial hair and squinty eyes is much easier to look at than the inverted bum molded onto the foreheads of Klingon actors....LOL :D
