You may have to reset your router. Just unplug it for a few seconds and replug it in. Once you have a solid hardwire connection go into the router settings and make sure that the wireless is turned on. Try connecting without any security turned on at this time. Once you are connectecd then set up your security. make sure you either have the security on or the wireless part shut off when you are not working on it.

hiya,
thanks for getting back. I think the router's all ok. My only prob seems to be actually knowing how to set up a wireless connection in windows xp. I have just an hour ago, went and bought a wireless adapter card for the old laptop that the new centrino one was supposed to be replacing!! I put the cd and the card in and voila, am now connected wireless with this geriatric old piece of windows me crap. how can the new super duper computer not be so simple?? just some basic info badly needed on how to set up a laptop wireless when it's centrino and xp. before i tear my hair out!!
thanks :)

It sounds like your latop wireless card isn't working. You may need to contact Toshiba to see if it is a bios problem. I just got a Toshiba satellite A105 that would not charge the battery and had toupdate the bios for this problem. I am not sure the exat model you have but it looks like the have a few bios updates.
