Need to turn Num-Lock off on startup

Did you try to install the drivers?

yep, tried that a couple days ago. They are worhtless, not really drivers. Apps for email and IE browser buttons.

I also tried a different key board, same problem.

Is the .exe file still working?
Sorry, but I ran out of ideas. I can only give your thread a bump.
Maybe someone else will come along with a solution.

You did look in settings|keyboard and device manager?

I've tried everything in this post that has been suggested, at least twice (just to make sure i didn't miss-read it the first time).

I'm getting desperate. I'm considering re-formatting and re-installing XP. Not knowing the cause of the problem, do you think that will resolve it?? (I know, how can it fix something that you don't know what is causing it). I'm also hoping that I will be able to log back into the Admin account again (one of my other mysteries).
