Well its getting kinda strange.I applied the Kellys corner modification and WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe.I thought that was it as the newer version of Zonealarm pro installed without error and Adaware away but then I tried another Nero 7 update and got the same error mesage as before about the installer service :confused: :(
Strange indeed :(
Some passing thoughts
1. You said "another" Nero update. Is it maybe only happening with Nero?
2. Presumably you had to reboot after the ZA install. If this were some sort of malware a reboot might have wiped out Kelly`s fix. Have you checked msconfig for nasties or run scans for all the different types of malware?

If it's only Nero you might try the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
