If Dick Cheney Ever Asks You.............

What's hush-hush?? It's been all over the news today, since it's obviously more important than Iran's recommencement of uranium enrichment or any other piddling little things. As far as Halliburton, well they're only one of two American companies that will touch foreign disaster relief because of the expense--caused by excessive government regulation of the process. If the govt. didn't make it so difficult to do that kind of work, maybe other companies, like Burger King, Kohl's department stores and Wal-Mart would bid for that kind of work. Yeah, I'd feel better if we gave the taxpayers' money to companies that had no clue what they were doing. :D No-bid contracts are bad, too. Make the bidders go through the same 5-month process everyone else does! That would speed things up, just like in New Orleans last summer.

Now that I've had my rant, I'm sorry too. It galls me to see a good man vilified the way he's been just because he's not a touchy-feely compassionate klepto like some of his predecessors. I'd rather go hunting with Cheney than golfing with Spiro Agnew or Jerry Ford, that's for sure. :D

I don't know about New York, but that is not true in Illinois. Cheney was hunting legally and shot someone accidentally.

ROTFL....For 5 years Bush was Cheney's puppet, now he's supposed to be his guardian? The VP's office has its own press secretary and staff. What in heaven's name does the prez have to do with it? Next thing you know, Howard Dean will be calling for a Senate investigation of "Cheneygate" and demanding the man's resignation. Katie Couric will be doing an exposé on the dark side of Cheney's psyche. I can hardly wait for the Sunday morning talking heads' coverage of this, should be good. :D Letterman is the only one I know who's kept this in perspective--I was in stitches last night watching his Top-10 list.

There is no fine, the $7.00 is the cost of the stamps that neither one had bought to legally hunt quail in Texas.

I still fail to understand what happen. One article said the hunters exited the car (limo?) and got separated when the lawyer went to pick up a bird he had previously shot and the others went to a new covey of birds. Does this mean they were shooting from the car before the accident?

I am no big fan of gunning down some dumb animal just for the fun of it and calling it sporting. To me, the animal needs a fifty-fifty chance of winning to be sporting.

The only thing to be learned here is that life long politicians and lawyers have no business around guns and live ammo.

Have to agree with you , when Cheney had his surgey they said Bush was in charge the whole time cheney was under ..

I'd say that combines politics with accidents. He's like the movie stars that get great attention anytime something happens.
The poor press secretary was bombarded with Q's on why it took so long to get the story out. Ah, Ah, the prez knew quickly, but ah, ah, facts were still coming in and we couldn't release the story until all the, ah, facts were in.
Just lucky they were using small pepper spray shot. Could have used double 0
buckshot and really did some damage.

My brother and I go to the range and shoot clay pigeons. They are bread there also but I don't think anyone complains. :D

CNN is reorting as breaking news that the shot man has suffered a mild heart attack when a pellet stuck in his heart.

Wish I knew what the big fuss is about. Didn't hear about the shooting accident in Texas until 11 p.m. last night. But my day today was no different than yesterday, Does anyone recall if it was one, two or 3 days before Hillary notified park police about Vince Fosters' suicide note? That incident didn't change my life in any way either. When you have been around as long as I have you don't sweat the small stuff!!!!

Hear, hear. The story I'm hearing about the way the story was released is that since the VP and Washington press corps detest each other, Mr. Cheney decided to stick it to them and let the local newspaper get the scoop on them. If that's the case, it sure worked--the D.C. reporters are incensed that the story bypassed them. I like it!

Not much news does anything for me either but I try to stay informed.
I know many people who never know squat about current events. Sure, most are not life changing but some may become that way. We are so bombarded and overloaded with news these days it's hard to discriminate between what is crucial and not.
If the Vice-President of the United States shoots someone, that's news we need to hear. If it had happened to Joe Blow, who'd give a crap. :cool:

Why? Is it going to change your life for the better? Don't take my reply wrong, BTW--I know what you mean to a point, but to me at least a VP's accident with birdshot doesn't have quite the same drawing power as, say, Aaron Burr or Andrew Jackson killing someone in a duel. Ranch-raised quail isn't quite the challenge Indiana-raised Quayle would be..... ;)
