Probably. I'm guessing you never got all the sugar syrup out of it and when it dried it worked OK. Extra moisture revived the mess. Run it through the washing machine on gentle cycle, then air-dry for a few days. (No soap.) I've always wondered if that would work.... :DQuote:
Too much moisture in the air ?
Once I get my new one, I will soak the switch assembly of the old one and then let it dry for a week or more and see how it goes.
The rest of it all works fine so I might just use it for storing / transferring files etc.
When I read your first post, Nix, I was castigating myself for not having tried harder to dry out my precious Creative Zen Xtra player. Same thing happened to me a month or so ago. I tried a few things but then just gave up. Got myself a new Creative player last week.
But reading the rest of your posts made me feel better, because it certainly appears that none of this (keyboards in the dishwasher regardless) does much for you except give you lots of agita.
Time for a new one!
Cheers
Wendy
As a final update.
The one I ordered got lost in the post and after a few emails back and forth, I suggested that as a sign of good faith the company that sold it to me should ship another and if the other one was foudn I would ensuer it was returned to them.
Amazingly they agreed, so on the 24th January which was the day after my birthday, I received my lovely new 5Gb player. :)
The other one never did show up and Australia Post rep said he was going to close the investigation and suggest they (the company) claim via inusrance.
As I said I had received what I paid for so that was up to them as I was happy.
I left very good feedback on their website and sent anemail thanking all who had been involved for the overall great outcome.
An update: 5 and a 1/2 months from when it stopped working, I was moving floors at work and was packing my drawers and found the old MP3 player, I powered it up and tried the buttons an it worked.
Have used it for the last week with no issue.
Must have just needed more time to dry out ??
So now I have 2 MP3 players - cool.
watch these and think about the next time you eat candy and drink soft drinks! also, did you know that when you are delivering, or picking up several different soft drinks in trucking, that the Federal Gov requires HazMat Placards which say Corrosive on the truck!?
