when I click on the companion it's head just moves a little bit, it scratches itself, but nothing else happens

I tried to do the reinstall but it said that i needed file msgr3en.dll from the windows xp home edition service pack 2 cd...but I have no idea where my windows xp disk is and the only person who would know where it is, is sleeping now...I just did the download and went to install it and got a setup error...it says that setup has detected that the service pack version of the system installed is newer than the update you are applying to it. You can only install this update on a computer with no Service Packs installed.

You may have to wait for the sleeping person to tell you where to locate the XP CD :). Insert the cd and locate the necessary files.

haha ok...thanks for your help tonight...I'll post back once i've finished with that later today and hopefully I'll have good news and I'll be able to search again

It didn't work...I finished installing it and then went to see if I could search now and it still wouldn't let me. Do you think that I should just try reinstalling Windows XP all over again?

You can try just installing XP over the top as this will not affect any software you have installed. A reformat means you will lose everything.
