You really don't need to use anything other than the XP disc, setup will format the drive for you, and really that is all that is necessary. Here are some good how-to's on cklean installing WinXP:
Clean Install XP Pro
Attended Install of Windows XP
If you really do want to make sure that absolutely nothing remains on the hard drive, Delpart will get rid of partitions:
Delpart
And Eraser will overwrite everything on the drive with zeros (or any other data pattern you choose):

Thanks, Sparks, but I partitioned my 160 GB Maxtor HDD into C: and D: drives .... so I could keep the C: partition just for Windows and basic operational stuff .... dont want to wipe the D: drive, has my archives on it ... I do have things backed up, but I'd really rather keep the D: partitionQuote:
